Dr. Miguel Angel Melgar, MD

My experience with DR. Melgar was probably one of the fastest visits ever. He came in, introduced himself, then said he doesn't see anything wrong with me and that he's not doing surgery. I tried to ask some questions but he would interrupt me. He acted like me being there was an inconvenience to him. I am active duty military and I have done pain management because it is required before they send you anywhere. My PCM and therapist both recommended I see a spine surgeon. The images that were read said I had a t7/t8 disc protrusion. Melgar said he didn't see anything and wouldn't answer any other questions. I felt like I was rushed, or not wanted, I am in pain everyday. Been happening for 5 months now. He just made excuse not to see and that was that. I assume this doctor doesn't help ppl unless he sees that he will get a decent payout for it, as I have tri-care that wouldn't be the case. I do not recommend him. Doctors should take the time to listen to u. How ur pain is affecting u. I… had this problem with my shoulder for 3 years. They said nothing was wrong. I found a Doc who said f it. Let's do surgery. He found that I really was messed up. So don't pick this one. And keep pushing till someone listens

I went to his office from Feb 2019 until Sept 2019. Not once was I seen by the the Dr . I was only seen by his NP who spent all of 5 minutes in the room and said to come back in 2 to 3 weeks. I was never examined but was told I needed back surgery. Then in Sept when I thought my surgery was going to be scheduled I was told he couldn't do it as I had copd. I was given a back brace and released from his practice. If he had read my chart he would have known back in Feb that I had mild copd as I had put it on my new patient info sheet. I would not recommend this Dr to any one. Worse experience I have ever had. Plus it took many phone calls for them to fill out papers for my leave approval from work.

Dr Melgar performed emergency brain surgery on our elderly mother. He explained the gravity of her situation, the surgical procedure, the aftercare in a very concise manner. The surgery went great and so far her recovery has been amazing. He’s a great surgeon and we appreciate his skill.

No pain after my Cervical Spinal Stenosis Surgery. I can walk again!

I've had two appointments with this Doctor and I have yet to actually meet him. The latest nurse practitioner was very unwelcoming. She truly was a natural at making it clear that I, as a patient, was the last thing she was interested in. It was very rushed. I was still trying to tell her things as she was walking out the door. They make sure they get their money though. You pay that first! If you want to feel that the doctor cares I wouldn't go to this chap. If he exists.

He completely destroyed my life told me he was going to put a small incision diagonal in a crease of my neck I came out with a vertical scar down the center of my neck that is the worst scar you ever seen I need plastic surgery because of the scar and my insurance has to be responsible for his mess up also I’m I’m Worst pain you could ever imagine down my arms both my hands are on fire and I had a nerve conduction test it says I have chronic pinched nerve C6 and c7 doctor melgar tells me the nerve must be dented like a Can gets a dent and I have been recording what he says to me on my phone because I can’t remember everything that he says I need to do so that’s how I remember he tells me he will no longer see me because of that now I have no doctor I have to get a different Dr to do his work that is terrible And he the worst bedside manner Kind of creepy when you have to go into surgery I put all my trust the doctor that totally let me down and I have to move on from here with not… knowing what I’m supposed to do next That’s the kind of doctor you will be getting if you use Dr. Melgar one that will let you down probably mess your surgery up one you cannot put your trust in.

Thanks to Dr. Melgar my husband has been pain free for 12 years. Dr. Melgar was very thorough and he even called our home prior to the appointment to discuss symptoms and history to be certain he was the best physician for my husband’s condition. Highly recommended!

Dr. Melgar has performed three surgeries on me and each one was a tremendous success. He is very skilled with precise hands, he keeps you fully informed of what he plans to do and how everything went during the surgery. He is very compassionate and cares deeply about his patients

Dr Melgar is very exact on his research dealing with your situation! He is kind and cares about your overall health! I am pleased to have him on my case!

Spinal fusion. (L4-SI) The fusion went well. 2 rods, 6 screws, and a few other meterials.... moved fairly well about 5-6;months after surgery but had to start usin a cane and haven't been able to let that go for very long every since. Would like to schedule a follow up appt. with Dr Melgar. He no longer works with the VA though.

This Dr reviewed my MRI, never came into see me nor explain the results, just a note with his had written phone number which was wrong and a note to follow up the same week from a head and neck injury. Well after finding the right number, and a 15 minute hold,the office receptionist Gail was quite rude and offered a date 18 days from the injury. I explained the seriousness, and pain worsening and what the Dr had said and there was nothing that made a difference to her...she said, well thats all we have. I AM TALKING HEAD AND NECK INJURY FOLLOW UP???????

My husband was referred to him when it was discovered he had a metastasized brain tumor. From the moment we met Dr. Melgar, we were impressed. He was kind, personable, compassionate and took as much time as we needed during a very difficult time. He even called us on a Saturday morning with what at the time looked like promising test results. Sadly, he could not save my husband, because of his advanced cancer, but I'll never forget our positive experience with Dr. Melgar.

A local doctor recommended Dr. Melgar for my C1 & C2 surgery. I would have been paralyzed if they had done it locally, and it was extremely life-threatening. Dr. Melgar is one of the nicest men I have ever met, and can still call him about anything and he is always there to help. I recently saw him after 6 years, for an unrelated herniated disc, and he treated me as if I were family. I would recommend him to anyone!
