Dr. Mihae Yu, MD

I am very pleased with the results of an umbilical hernia surgery performed by Dr. Yu. This is my second surgery, as my first one done on the mainland had failed. My primary physician in Honolulu referred me to Dr. Yu to repair the damage and to replace the failed mesh from my previous surgery. Upon calling to schedule my first visit with Dr. Yu, I was taken care of very quickly by a very warm and professional office staff. They made sure to let me know that they would be fully available if I had any concerns or questions. I could not have asked for a better experience with Dr. Yu, herself. After our initial appointment where she immediately grasped what was needed for my condition, we had to negotiate fitting my surgery in during the COVID 19 epidemic restrictions. Dr. Yu personally kept in touch, and called me several times until the surgery could be scheduled. She also took care of the registration for my surgery with the hospital, so that all I had to do was to show up for the… procedure. Both she and the anesthesiologist were very professional, proving that rather than having to choose between a great surgeon or a great bedside manner, I received both. Finally, if anyone in my family should need a surgeon, Dr. Yu would be my first call.

Dr. Yu is an incredible surgeon and human being. I trusted my life to her as a male breast cancer patient and she stayed with me after surgery with follow up and continuing care for weeks until I was well enough to move on. Don't believe any of the nonsense you may read about her from disgruntled and fearful people on these pages. I would recommend her 100% to anyone who is lucky enough to get in to see her.

she is the worse surgeon there is. Poorly trained and incompetent. Poor bedside manner and lack of sympathy for patients. She put her financial interests above patient's well-being. Stay away!!

Dr. Yu told my mom my dad was dying of cancer, when my mom was in shock, I took the phone and she sounded exasperated and said, "I don't want to repeat this 10 times". I asked what stage the cancer was and she said, again exasperated, "I don't know, Its bad, very bad." As this made us question the adquacy of care on the island, we took my dad to the mainland for treatment.
