Dr. Mikhail Vladimir Nickita, MD

Went in with my teenager. Dr. Nickita was quite abrupt and seemed inebriated. Brought documentation regarding my son's psychiatric history, yet the doctor waved away the papers and said we had to "start from scratch." He then refused to refill an ongoing Zoloft prescription. Total waste of a co-pay. Thank goodness we have insurance!

Can't say enough bad things about Dr. Nikita. He went away for a week and left no other doctor to contact in case of emergency, didn't mention he was on vacation in the outgoing message and said to just call 911. Needing a prescription refill isn't an emergency but a big deal if you need something to function. I can't urge you enough to find another doctor, as he charged me a whopping $280 for a 10-minute visit.

I'm a current patient of Dr. Nickita. It's true that he normally spends just 20 - 30 minutes with me, however when I was in a very real emotional crisis situation, he spent over an hour with me until I was feeling much better. As someone with 5 years experience in the mental health field, I can tell you that diagnosing a particular mental health issue is difficult and not an exact science.

(NOTE: This review refers to doctor's Brooklyn, NY office) Dr. Nickita is a brilliant, compassionate man with a great sense of humor and a genuine concern for his patients. Very easy to talk to, he really listens. While he takes notes -- as most therapists do -- he maintains a rapport with patients and remembers massive amount of subjects discussed in previous sessions, even without referring to notes. Quick to give samples of meds if he feels them necessary, but does not pressure patient to continue a med if it is ineffective or if patient cannot tolerate side effects. His secretaries are friendly, helpful, and efficient. Only negative is his overcrowded schedule; as a result, he rarely starts sessions on time, and is unable to offer 50-minute sessions (sessions are only 30 minutes). Nevertheless, if patient is under stress he's willing to fit them in for an extra session as soon as there's an opening. Highly recommended!
