Dr. Milan Stevanovic, MD

I woke up with a dead radial nerve in a hand. It had zero movement or range of motion. I signed up for surgery, was told a long 2 year recovery, and my hand has at maximum only 20% of original strength and range of motion. At a follow up I was told that of 80 surgeries I had the lowest results. Out of about 6-7 surgeries in the past decade he’s provided the lowest healing, repair and quality of life. I did not appreciate his remark. I have been a musician for over 30 years and USED to play guitar. I repaired vintage analog music gear to musicians internationally. My clients varied from at home amateurs to famous A listers elite. Those days are over. I’m still trying to find a miracle with mixed expectations. He is a good surgeon from what I understand. I should have guarded my expectations. This has been a difficult frustrating ride. I still continue on after limited success. What choice do I have.

As a Dr. myself, I can confidently say this is one of the worst physicians I have had the displeasure of entrusting with my care. I was referred to Milan for suspected thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS). My primary care Dr. warned me he has terrible bedside manner but is generally a good surgeon. His nurses warned me to make sure I actually confirmed if he viewed my imaging CDs and medical records since he commonly says “he couldn’t see them”. I presented my complicated case to him factually and every sentence he interrupted me with condescending comments implying that my referring Drs and myself were idiots. He even interrupted me to say “do you even know who invented the lightbulb”. He spent more time talking about Nikola Tesla a fellow Serbian who truly invited the lightbulb than actually listening to my history or doing a physical exam. Then after 1 min (of me actually talking) he interrupted me again to say “that’s enough history let’s move on”. His examination was less than 1 min… and he did zero physical exam tests for TOS. When I showed him my mottled, blue discolored hand in the room (classic of TOS) he dismissed it. He acted annoyed and avoided looking at any of my medical records, dismissed my EMG findings (which were consistent with severe TOS -a mistake that has left me with potentially permanent nerve damage), dismissed concerns for TOS and got tunnel vision on another zebra diagnosis of Parsonnage Turner syndrome. When I questioned him on TOS he confidentially said I didn’t have that and that “almost all cases are vascular and from an extra scalene muscle which you don’t have”. All of the literature, peer-reviewed journal articles and true specialists in this condition would greatly disagree with this statement. It’s ok to be wrong on an uncommon condition, his (dangerous) arrogance is the issue here. As Drs we must be willing to think outside the box on things we don’t know the answer to. He then ordered the exact same MRIs I already had to which his nurse pointed out and he degraded her in front of me in the exam room. She was right I had all that testing if he would have just looked. He was an hour late for our consult which wouldn’t have been a problem if he had spent more than 5 min with me and actually done his job. I since have had surgery with a top TOD surgeon at UCLA (who confirmed severe neurogenic TOS crushing my nerves) who I am grateful to have found. I contemplated writing this review but feel others should be warned. He might be good for basic, common things but anything that might challenge him I would find someone else.

My rating relates to my post operative care. Dr Stevanovic is the most unprofessional and arrogant doctor I have ever encountered. I am traumatized from my experience with him and his staff. He definitely violated his Hippocratic oath to “do no harm.”

Dr Stevanovic did my carpal tunnel surgery 20 years ago. I haven't had any problems with my wrist or hand. The experience was carefree as Dr Stevanovic had an exceptional bed side manner allowing me to feel very confident in his expertise.

I went to see this doctor today because I was referred by my primary doctor but he did have the Time to check my EMI and nerves test he was so rude that not very professional.with 49 years or experience

Dr Milanovic is very friendly caring dr. Over 6 months in NV had numerous X rays, MRIs, dr visits, nobody could diagnose my problem or help. I have suffered agonizing pain, immobility, etc. Dr Stevanovic in 10 minutes!!!! diagnosed and my condition, then explained the diagnosis , solutions, outcome etc. He is a brilliant example of a caring and excellent dr. Thank you very much dr. Stavanovic!

I met with him once and was treated kindly by his staff but he has poor bedside manner, made me feel like I was wasting his time and my symptoms were a figment of my imagination. He was not gentle during examination and quite cold in his demeanor. AVOID THIS DR AT ALL COST!!

Excellent Doctor, did such a great job with my hand, finder and forearm surgery. He even went to my work a couple days after the surgery to check on me. I have an appointment to see him next month for my other hand that is showing signs of carpal tunnel. I would not change him for the world.

Dr. Stevanovic reduced a phalanx fracture (with percutaneous K-wires) for me last summer. He examined it 4 weeks later, took an X-ray, and pulled the pins. The X-ray report then revealed that the fracture was not healed, thus the bone displaced again when the K-wires were removed. This required follow-up surgery to repair. In all aspects, the experience was an ordeal. 9 months later I have not regained use of my hand and live with daily pain. Avoid this provider as well as you can.
