Dr. Mina Hah, MD

She is quite dismissive and doesn't listen. Every time I bring up a concern, question or symptom she talks over me and brushes it aside as unimportant noise, which is a quite dangerous trait in a psychiatrist. She made up her mind about me and my diagnosis within minutes in the first appointment and refuses any information that doesn't fit into that narrative. Multiple times she has challenged what I shared like I was lying! She treats me like I was dumb and don't know my own experiences. She is either arrogant or socially inept (maybe both); she has made me cry multiple times and I ALWAYS feel worse after seeing her. I absolutely agree with the other patients' reviews

I received 7 weeks of Deep Brain Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for recurrent Major Depression. Today, I feel better than I have in years. Such a simple sentence, but with so much meaning for me. Deep brain TMS has given me the proverbial new lease on life! I am so grateful to Dr. Hah for making this method available to the public.

I have suffered life-long depression which has been medication resistant my whole adult life. I was referred to Dr. Hah for TMS treatment. It was life changing. My depression is now mild and controlled with minimum medication. I feel like a new person! The staff are cheerful, supportive, and always on time. I would recommend Dr. Hah and her staff without reservation.

I want to point out that Dr. Hah’s friends and colleagues (my guess is that it’s actually the same person over and over again) have spammed multiple PATIENT review websites with praise to improve her ratings. This behavior is extremely unprofessional, unethical, and inappropriate; Dr. Hah, it sounds as though many of your patients have had horrible experiences under your care, and we deserve to be heard. Stop trying to drown out our voices with glowing reviews. It’s pathetic that you need your colleagues to defend your integrity in patient-oriented spaces, as though we are too “crazy” to know any better and need to be set straight. The implication is that the opinions of a ~qualified~ mental health professional should somehow negate our valid perspectives and experiences. Tl;dr this is a PATIENT review website, as in for PATIENTS, by PATIENTS; it is NOT a peer review platform. Criticism is part of life, and if you believe that psychiatric patients are too insane to accurately assess… the professionals who care for them, you are perpetuating the pervasive and hateful stigma that the mentally ill are incompetent, lack agency, and are sub-human.

I’ve known and worked with Dr. Hah for almost 10 years now (2012). Dr. Hah has demonstrated compassion, integrity, and high quality standard clinical client centered care with some of the most challenging patients and family in the area. Working closely together in a interdisciplinary psychiatric team 5 days a week at the Hospital for nearly 7 years, Dr. Hah consistently listens, cares, and provides “best practice” and passionate care for all of her clients and families. She continues to amaze me with her relentless dedication and love for her work and clients. Dr. Hah is considered mentor, a colleague, and one of the best and leading Psychiatrist in the Davis, Sacramento, end Central Valley!

Dr. Hah seems to think she knows you better than you know yourself after a single meeting. And once she makes up her mind about you, it's impossible to change her mind. She'll say you're "in denial" if you disagree with her assessment of your own personal experiences. She'll talk over you. She'll make you doubt yourself. She will threaten to remove you as a client if you express any apprehension with her treatment plan. If you're looking for "compassionate" or "nonjudgmental" care, look elsewhere. If you wanted to be treated as an individual, look elsewhere. If you want to be given any human decency, please look elsewhere. I'm so sorry for everyone else here who went through a similar experience. No one deserves to be treated like this, especially not by a mental health professional.

As other patients have expressed, Dr. Hah diagnosed me immediately without much knowledge of my medical history or mental health concerns. I believe she has misdiagnosed me and that the medication regime she put me on was extremely dangerous to my mental health. I am so relieved to see that I am not the only one, as she was having me believe that I was simply "too crazy" to understand that she was right and I was wrong about what is going on with me. I would advise anyone to steer clear, especially people who are shy around doctors and have difficulty asserting themselves.

*This review reflects my experiences and opinions.* As others have mentioned, she doesn't listen. While this might sound like an infraction to the general population, it's actually a dangerous trait in a psychiatrist. I had a horrific experience with her; I can't elaborate because I don't want to divulge any identifying information, but she is the most arrogant medical professional I have ever had the displeasure to know. I would discourage others from seeking her care. On several occasions, I felt that she was purposefully antagonizing me during appointments to try and elicit a "crazy" response. Her hubris is legendary, even for a psychiatrist, and I have never met another doctor who is so negligent and uncaring. If I had the option, I would have given her 0/5.

I couldn't get a word in half the time, and she made her diagnosis in a split second. She wouldn't listen to the reasons why I didn't think her diagnosis was correct. It was an awful experience, and I didn't feel like I could trust her to listen to me going forward after an evaluation.

Dr. Hah is a competent doctor, however, she is not compassionate toward her patients. As an example, She makes jokes about patients and laughs inappropriately and loudly. I do not recommend her. The first thing I look for in a doctor is compassion. Otherwise, how could you know if you are receiving the care you need, from another human?
