Dr. Minch K. Fong, MD

I was referred to Dr. Fong two years ago because of some abnormal blood values. For some reason, he focused on anemia and blood loss. He asked me to take iron tablets for a number of months and my red cells did not improve dramatically. He told me that was my "new normal". I was dismissed with no follow up appointments. A year later, during my annual check up with my GP he said I needed to return to Dr. Fong as my blood studies had worsened. He still focused on a bleed and even though all tests for a bleed were negative, he decided to do three iron infusions. There was no increase in my red blood cells and he said we would check in about four months! I went to another hematologist/oncologist and he diagnosed my condition on the second visit. I have WM lymphoma. I had asked Dr. Fong to do a bone marrow biopsy numerous times and he, for some reason, did not want to send me for testing. My disease can not be cured but is treatable with chemotherapy. I am so disappointed in Dr. Fong for… "heading off in the wrong direction" and not listening to me. My red and white cells and platelets had all dropped before I saw him. He did not have a good chair side manner and spoke to me like a child ("You're not listening to me!" and "Do you think you're the only person with low red blood cells?" I'm sorry, but I cannot recommend him and I'm sorry I wasted 18 months trusting he was doing the right thing. My new oncologist is very caring, picked up on my diagnosis immediately and has prepared me for the chemotherapy which I will begin sometime in 2021.

I reached out to several other former patients of Dr Fong only to find out he has a pattern of mis-diagnosis and no follow up. He never even called to see if my uncle was alive or not. I went to several appointments and he didn't want to listen to our concerns and spent very little time focused on any details. I'm not sure if he was in a rush to a golf game or not. Be very concerned if you're a patient, he's lost several malpractice suits already and apparently more are in the works.

Doctor Fong is absolutely amazing. Without relaying too much personal information, he has given me my life back. 10 years and counting of being in remission. Thanks Doctor!

Look past the negative stars on his ratings and give this MD a chance to help you. I understand it when a patients treatment does not go well or if some one's health fails, you will likely say something negative. That is the nature of an oncologist patients - this is a tough filed to make everyone happy. I worked for a large hospital chain and have seen many doctors. Minch Fong really spend the time to properly diagnose my condition. My first appointment with his lasted over an hour (or at least close to an hour). He searched my medical records, interviewed me and came up with options to treat my condition. I have only seen a couple of MD's spend the time to get it right and to understand his patient this thoroughly. This is a good and intellectual physician. I trust him.

Two years ago my father was referred to Dr Fong. My father's CLL had come out of remission. Dr Fong recommended a new chemo drug Imbruvica. My father never had great improvement. Even after a year his treatment never really changed. I questioned my dad about the lack of aggressive treatment he was receiving. But he is one that believes Dr's know what they are doing and followed Dr Fongs protocol. My father's condition rabidly got worse. No radiation no other chemo, no stem cell...the only thing that was done was a steroid treatment. Which did not help at all. I am no expert but if a medication is NOT working I would think that trying a different treatment would be in order. When Dr's at the hospital would call him, many times he had not called them back. I understand Dr's have 100's of patients, etc. But when your patient is at a critical point maybe they deserve critical attention. When my father lived in another state his care was so much better & focused. The lack of attention &… focus is what I believe has given my father his death sentence. If you have cancer I recommend you do as much research as possible to find an expert/specialist in the type of cancer you.have. =(

Egotistical sob! The malpractice king! And has no heart for you patients!!

Dr. Fong makes you fell like you're his only patient. His is concerned with the whole family environment and care. He works around your schedule to ensure quality family time. He explains medical terms in a laymans language for a better understanding of the process and strategy of proving a quality care under your individual condition.

Dr Fong is an amazing doctor. I've never had a doctor in my 30 years of life that I actually looked forward to seeing. He's nice, hes compassionate, and he does care. To the one star reviewers, it is YOU that is full of it, not Dr Fong. Get over yourselves and stop bad mouthing a wonderful Dr.

Dr. Fong is fantastic!Going through cancer was rough, Dr. Fong and his fantastic staff made an otherwise hellish ordeal actually bearable. I was really impressed with how caring he and his nurses were and how willing to take the time to answer my many, many questions.I hope to never have a reoccurrence but if so, I know who will be treating me.
