Dr. Minnie John, MD

I have never had a worse experience with a doctor than with Dr. John. Her bedside manner was terrible. She never once spoke to my daughter, who the appointment was for. My daughter has a chronic disease, and we've seen a lot of doctors - none even approaching this rude. Without ever talking to, looking at, or testing my daughter for anything, she told us our diagnosis from two years ago was wrong, and we'd been doing the wrong treatment all along. She looked at our old paperwork, went over it in detail with her two med students, but wouldn't let me explain things. She interrupted me every time I tried to get a word in edgewise. Her manner of speaking was extremely abrupt.Our regular doctor hadn't sent over the current paperwork, and all I had with me was from two years ago. Let me reiterate - without current paperwork, without letting me tell our current situation, without looking at, talking to, or testing my daughter, she told us we'd been doing things wrong for two years. She… wouldn't let me talk, and most certainly would not let me ask questions. Finally, I asked her med students to leave the room and tried to ask her to quit saying everything was wrong and please give me the 10,000 foot view. I said to her that I don't know all the acronyms and tests, and so I wanted her to explain to me why she was changing course and what led her to believe everyone before her had been wrong. Well, this made her even more mad. I told her that her bedside manner was frustrating me and why, and she response was "well, I am a doctor and I need to speak to my students." Uh... what about your *patients*? Don't go see her. For anyone that needs a long term treatment plan (and if you're seeing an infectious disease doctor, you probably do) this is not someone who you will want to see multiple times.
