Dr. Mircea Marcel Basaraba, MD

We trusted Dr. Basaraba with my father during a heart attack. After 3 days of being in the hospital on a nitro drip Dr. Basaraba finally decided that he wanted to do an arteriogram. We tried to ask questions about the procedure and tried to inform him that my father had a history of complications during an arteriogram, but he did not want to listen and wanted to know why we were questioning his ability. When it came time for the arteriogram the tech came to get my dad and informed us that if they found anything and needed to do a stint, etc. That they would have to do another one on the next day. This is where we decided as a family that we needed to get him to another Dr. When we talked to him to tell him we were wanting to get him sent to Vanderbilt he simply replied FINE in a very rude and unprofessional manner. We waited over 9 hours before he showed up to sign the release paperwork to get him sent to another hospital after getting the hospital management involved. We even found… out that he had left the hospital for several hours knowing my dad needed care. When he did show up he refused to sign the paperwork and we were forced to release care to another Dr. In the hospital so he could sign the paperwork. Dr. Basaraba is a horrible man and he toyed with my fathers life. I would not recommend him to anyone as I would hate to see them endure the same experience as we did.

The doctor went above and beyond to make sure I was ok. I have referred several family members to him. We are all very happy with the care we receive.

Friendly staff, clean office, appointment at 1pm and I was seen within 5 minutes. Appropriate follow up scheduled. I am a retired RN and I found him extremely intelligent.

Great doctor, helps his patience with the latest technology.

My grandmother is a renal failure patient who was having nose bleeds which sent her to the Er multiple times. She also ended up being hospitalized in Chattanooga. The staff at Memorial said her INR was 3 times what it should be in her system. When we told Dr. Bassaraba what had happened he got defensive asking why Chattanooga even checked that? He said that checking her INR was irrelevant. I told him we werent leaving until he changed her medicine. Finally Basaraba put her on warfin instead of Xylarto. Come to find out....patients who are renial failure should not take xarlto bc it builds up in their system causing unexplained bleeding. I had to find that out from the pharmacist instead of Dr. Basaraba go figure!! If you want a heart only Dr. Instead of a whole body Dr. then hes your guy. For us he could care less about my grandmothers failing kidney & would of kept pushing the meds on her. Praise God we had the courage to find another Dr.

Dr. Mircea was my cardiologist at Southern Tennessee Cardiology. Was VERY impressed with both his bedside manner and his knowledge over my current diagnosis and patient file. Very easy to schedule an appointment with and excellent bedside manner. Treated me like family!

This was a very nice Dr. he answered all my questions and put my mind to ease. He does speak very quickly but in plain old English. His staff was also very welcoming and easy to work with. He did a Cardiac cath on me and except for the fact he had to use my neck all my worries were for not. He came after the procedure and talked to my daughter and told her all was well.

Dr. Basaraba is very knowledgeable and helpful. He explained everything in detail and answered all of our questions. He is very caring and reassuring and helped us in the hospital, in his office and even in his free time.

My first thoughts of this man was "good I can understand him plainly" the next thought was where does this guy get off insulting me and berating me. I go to a Doctor for help not abuse. He is avery thin long distance runner who appears to hate overweight people. He has the bedside manner of a terrorist. It just amazes me that someone hasn't went off on him physically. He did a heart cath. on me and after hitting nerve bundles which made my leg jerk uncontrollably not to mention the pain he made the statement " oh maybe I should have deadened it" I think he just enjoys inflicting pain upon people. I would rather go see a vetinarian before going back to him. He is rude and has zero people skills. It is a wonder that he is still able to practice in this area. I have spoken to workers at the one hospital he has priviledges at and he is nasty to them and even thrown things at them in his hissy fits.
