Dr. Miriam Cohen Ambalu, MD

The most horrific doctor I have ever come in contact with. She was incredibly rude and then began accusing me of making up my medical issues. She abused me both physically and emotionally.

Very rude, she basically made fun of my intelligence for asking a question (sorry I didn't go to 5+ years of medical school, that's why I'm here to see you). Also, she bills you separately from the Urgent Care so you pay twice, if I had known that I wouldn't have seen her.

Very rude and abrupt. Waited 2 hrs to see her even though I went via ambulance

I was in extreme abdominal pain when admitted to the er. My parents came to my aid but Dr. A never even tried. She didn't even touch the areas of my stomach I had pain in. Only using the charts she diagnosed me with food posing and sent me home... I stared at her in dis-belief because the pain I was in seemed way to localized to be food posing. The next day I had emergency gallbladder surgery at a different hospital. She never listened me, she didn't even properly examine me. I know have a longer recovery period and owe two different hospitals money because of her non caring type of doctoring. If she would of listened to me I might have been taken care of properly.

I was at the ER with funny symptoms and she treated me appropriately, she was also nice and attentive through the whole process. I thought I'd add my experience since the other reviews are so negative.

I went to the ER four years ago because of my shoulder..it had dislocated over the weekend and felt like something was wrong..called my ortho doctor and he told me to go to the ER because there were no appointments available..Dr. Ambalu was my doctor and as the other person stated she had no personality..very stoic..i explaned the situation and i asked if i could have an MRI..she refused because of my insurance..i called the state and she accused me of drug seeking..made numerous complaints and nothing was done..went to the ER recently because of dehydration and again she accused me of drug seeking and told the staff the same so they treated me like garbage..i called my family members and she refused to let them in to see me..meanwhile the whole time someone from consumer affairs witnessed the whole thing and did nothing..its a shame that this woman is a doctor and allowed to treat people this way...also she checked my urine for drugs and nothing was there because i dont do drugs and… never have..she's vindictive and one day she's going to do this to someone and not do the appropriate tests or give them proper care and Hackensack Medical Center is going to be sued but from what i understand..this will not be the first time..

Had two dealings with her - one where the friend was a patient who had been discharged the night prior from HMC. Dr. A. mistakenly thought he was high, and assumed that before examining or reading the chart. She was wrong.Second occasion was for me with atypical chest pain. She categorized my symptoms as atypical back pain and I spent over an hour in the minor emergency section before being seen. Luckily it wasn't an MI but a cardiologist found several defects later on.
