Dr. Miriam S Bettencourt, MD

My girlfriend went to see Miriam Bettencourt for a scheduled appointment and had to wait almost an extra hour before being seen, she asked the doctor was she submitting her claim to her insurance and the doctor said no, that she's not participating in any fraud, hold up, I'm lost here, how is that fraud submitting a claim to the patient insurance company about the procedure, and the doctor was very rude and nasty and started yelling, and even the doctor assistant was looking puzzled about that encounter, Bettencourt upset my girlfriend by being unscrupulous and vile, and she needs to treat people the way she would like to be treated, and as a professional you should treat people like they matter, I wouldn't refer this place to anyone seeking a professional environment. Terrible experience for my girlfriend and she will never go there again, she'll go somewhere that the patient matters.

I went to see Bettencourt for a followup on an procedure she had done. Before my appointment I contact Aetna, my insurance. They told me that her office never claimed my procedure nor reported that I paid $400 out of pocket. When I got to the her office I asked if they were notifying Aetna of my procedure and they said no because it's a cosmetic procedure. Regardless of what it is, an insurance company should be notified, per Aetna. Her office kept insisting that I was asking them to commit fraud by reporting to my insurance. To make it worse, when I saw Bettencourt she refused to talk about it and blew up when I asked for a referral to a dermatologist that would report all procedures done to an insurance company. Bettencourt started to insult me and told me to never come back. When I left I called Aetna and they were shocked by my story and called her office and demanded them to revise the claim and report everything that was done. Now her office is revising the claim and resubmitting… to Aetna. I'm still shocked from this experience, how can an office accuse you of committing fraud by simply asking them to report ALL my medical history. Be aware of this office, they like to decide for themselves what they should or shouldn't claim to the insurance companies.

I have contacted the Nevada Medical Association to please investigate this practice. I had a mole removed that later showed basil cells. I went back to have more shaved and was told that stitches would be needed. They said that my insurance only covers one procedure a day and was told I was to return the next day. I have over a 2 inch scar on my face that looks like a centipede crawling under my skin. When i called my insurance company to ask why my insurance won't cover same day stitches they were appalled. That is no policy of ours nor did they think any insurance. This practice is trying the un bundling approach to make additional monies. DON'T GO HERE.

Dr. Bettencourt has been my physician for over 20 years. Her professionalism, expertise, compassion and attentiveness is amazing. Dr. Bettencourt is regarded very highly in the profession of medicine/dermatology and considered a top dermatologist. I am a native of Las Vegas, and her name and reputation is held in high esteem in both the medical profession and by her patients. Dr. Bettencourt’s front office is very accommodating and friendly...and very resourceful. I recommend her highly. Beverly Waters.

i did not understand why she did not do the stitching following the surgery until i went back and i was presented another charge and learned that she considered this another procedure so the ins. was billed again hench another co-pay i refused to pay!!!!!!! she is rude and feels offended if she is ask a question!!! so sorry i went there, my arm will never be wright,

I have been a patient of Dr. Bettencourt's for 4 years and have been extremely pleased with her care, her diagnosis and treatment of my many problems , and her genuine concern for my health. She is a wonderful doctor and I am grateful for Dr. Bettencourt and her caring staff.

I saw Dr. Bettencourt yesterday and was very pleased with her and the staff. They had recently moved and they seemed a little out of sorts because of it, but they also worked very hard to be friendly and efficient with the difficulty of trying to work with things being a bit out of order. I was very happy with Dr. Bettencourt's treatment of me as well as her staff.

Dr. Bettencourt is awesome! She found skin cancer on 2 areas that my previous Dr missed. She is very thorough and truly cares about her patients. She takes her time and makes sure all your concerns are addressed. Very kind and understanding, and has the most gentle bedside manner around.

Dr B's office has the best team of medical staff I have seen in a long, long time. Despite the doctor being super busy, she still took the time to make me feel like I was the only patient there. She's also incredibly competent. I recommend the Bettencourt Skin Center as first rate!

I have been a patient for over 12 year. She is a fantastic doctor. I highly recommend her. Operated on me twice for skin cancer with great results.
