Dr Miriam Parker

Very caring physician.

Plan on going to a clinic if you have a problem you didn't schedule at least a month in advance. The nurse will not return your message until after 15 messages have been left. Dr Parker is nice once you get to her.

Dr. Parker is a terrific doctor and spends a lot of time with each patient. That may be the reason she always seems to run late. (by more than half an hour in my experience) Her office staff are also kind of lackadaisical. Overall, though, I will keep goung to her because I'm very healthy (knock wood)and only go once or twice per year.

Dr. Parker is a fantastic doctor but her staff is awful. My wife and I went to Dr. Parker for 7 years but switched in 2006 because of her staff. First, the quickest we could ever get an appointment for anything routine (like a cold or the flu) was three days. Second, her nurse, P.J. was bad about returning phone calls and always seemed like we were bothering her. Third, her nurse almost blew a diagnosis because she refused to call the doctor to get an E.R. referal. My wife had symptoms that Web M.D. suggested were shingles. The shingles were conected to her face, which, if not quickly treated, could cause blindness. After repeated calls, including one threatening malpractice, P.J. finally gave our message to Dr. Parker who imediately called back and ok'd a visit to the E.R. and gave us a referal to the Emory shingles specialist.Surprisingly, we still went back until one day I couldn't get an appointment for three days for a sinus infection. I got a recomendation for a new doctor… who saw me the afternoon of my call. He always manages to get me in even though his practice seems to be busier than Dr. Parker's. It's amazing how a good staff makes a difference.If they fire P.J. (and decide they can take phone calls between 11 and 2), give her shot. Otherwise, don't bother.
