Dr. Misael Otero
Even as a junior high kid in Florida, Misael Otero knew he wanted to be in health care. His father was a Navy pediatrician and Misael would accompany him to his clinic and watch his dad treat the youngest of patients and their often worried parents. He knew his dad helped the community and he wanted to do the same. Misael was moved to volunteer to work for a neighborhood dentist and noticed this doctor was changing lives by changing smiles. From that time on, his path in life was clearly defined.
As a Navy kid born in Puerto Rico, his family moved to the continental US before Misael was one year old. They lived in various places including California and Virginia before settling in Jacksonville, Florida. Once he was ready for college, Misael chose to attend the University of Florida. There he earned his Bachelor's of Science in Economics and then attended New York University College of Dentistry where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree. In addition to his …studies at NYU, Misael attended over 300 hours of training and received his fellowship in Implant Dentistry.
It was also in New York that Misael met his future wife, Lindsey. The two of them were married, moved to North Carolina, and recently had their first child. They practiced in the Wilmington area for almost 4 years before deciding to open their dream office in Hampstead, where they plan on practicing for many years. They feel it was absolutely the right choice for them, they love being where they are at right now. They are members of the Chamber of Commerce and are active members of their church. They are proud sponsors the Spot Festival and the Topsail High School football team.
Misael continues his education in all aspects of dentistry, but most recently in endodontics, implants, and Invisalign. Some of his interests outside of dentistry include college football (a Florida Gator fan, of course!), fishing and trying to keep a golf ball on the fairways (with some limited success). Patients and neighbors might also catch a glimpse of Misael on the North Carolina shoreline, perfecting his wake boarding technique.
