Dr. Misty Jaye Brown

I recently saw this dentist to get multiple fillings. Basically the entire right side of my mouth. I got the left side of my mouth worked on by this dentist also, but that was another difficult experience. I went to my appointment to work on the right side of my mouth, which was at 9:30 in the morning. Because of the amount of work I was getting done that day, they told me I would be there for about four hours. I arrived at 9:15, and after some small talk they gave me the medication to sedate me around 10:30. They made sure I was comfortable and left my room. I woke up briefly to the dentist giving me shots of Novocaine and fell back asleep. I awoke by myself to a dark room about 3:30 in the afternoon and asked to use the restroom. I assumed they had finished working on me and were just waiting for the sedative to wear off and for me to wake up. When I asked what all had been done, they told me they hadn't even started yet. I had been there for six hours, asleep for five and they had… not done anything yet. Infuriated, I asked to reschedule since they were obviously busy, to which they told me it would only be another twenty minutes then they would start on me. I told them that I have children in child care and can't stay for another four hours to finish my fillings, they then told me it would only take one hour to finish all of my work. They had me sit back down in the chair and the dentist came in and had to give me another round of Novocaine shots. When she proceeded to work on me, she was very rushed, very hurried, which caused her to make mistakes. At one point, she was so frustrated she started yelling at her dental assistants and using profane language. She was yelling "f---!" "Sh--!" and "God d------!" And starting yelling about her employees gossiping about her as an act of rebellion. Because I had taken the medication to be sedated, they suggested someone drop me off and pick me up, and they would let them know when I was finished. At this point my father (who was my ride) had called three times to see if I was done, only for them to tell him it would "be another hour" two or three times. The dentist was frustrated, she was hurrying, and because the Novocaine was wearing off, it was causing a lot of pain. I had tears running down the sides of my face, I was sweating and trying to remain still and the dentist told me, "I see your tears and it makes me f------ sick to my stomach." She also said "I bet you're thinking 'f--- you!' about me right about now!" While she was drilling, my father texted me to see if I was okay, when I lifted my phone up to read the message I apparently startled the dentist, she screamed and jumped, gouging me in the lip and tongue with the bur. When checking my bite, I asked her if I could sit up for a second because my jaw had locked up while closed, and she told me no. She asked me to open my mouth, but I couldn't because my jaw was locked. She told me my jaw was fine and to just open my mouth. I opened it as much as I could, while causing major discomfort. I finally finished at 6pm. Two hours after they said I would be done. The dentist told me she was sorry and would be sending me a gift in the mail to make up for what happened. I was there for nine hours, and more than half of that was spent waiting. I had a cleaning appointment with them in the future which I cancelled. I would never recommend this dentist to anyone.

I've been a patient for 15 years. Misty Brown is a fabulous dentist. Pain free. I love her warm,caring way. She always makes me comfortable all the time. Her staff is wonderful. In a word or two, great experience!

This dentist cannot be beat as a professional dentist or as a caring person. I feel a very close and personal relationship with Dr. Brown even though she is only my dentist. I will continue to go only to her so long as I or she is around.

I thought I was the only person who had a bad experience with this dentist, but after reading these other reviews I feel both vindicated and terrified that she's still practicing. I went in for a regular filling, I had three or four cavities so she wanted to knock them all out at once. They told me they wanted to sedate me, I agreed. And after taking the sedative and passing out, I was woken up by her dental assistant who told me I needed to be awake for the procedure. So I was groggy and emotional, and they needed me to stay awake and keep my mouth open. They went to work and as the back of my mouth and throat were still numb, I couldn't feel myself swallow and water kept pooling in the back of my mouth, making me feel like I was being drowned. I tried desperately to let the doctor know, raising my hands and pulling at her sleeve to help me, and all she did was push my arms back down and tell me I needed to stay still. At this point I was crying, terrified I was going to suffocate,… and she told me I needed to "calm down and stop acting like a child". I don't know how they water board in other countries, but I literally felt like I was being tortured- drugged and forced to sit still as they continually sprayed water into my mouth without a suction tool. This was the most terrifying experience of my life, and afterwards when I asked if they had comment cards (they don't) Dr Misty came out and said the sedative was making me emotional, I was over reacting, she did everything by the book and threw in the fact that her husband is a lawyer (daring me to sue it seemed). Weeks later I dropped off a letter for Dr Misty, stating how affected I was by her procedure, that I wasn't interested in suing, and that all I wanted was for her to realize how she made me feel and that I was hoping she might call and apologize. I never heard from her again.
