Dr. Misty A Janssen, MD

Dr. Janssen asked very little questions and did not address concerns I had. She told me I had a mass and ordered a CT. She ruled out another potential diagnosis. When I went to get a second opinion I was diagnosed with the condition Dr Janssen ruled out. My CT was also perfectly normal. Totally unprofessional for being a doctor

I would like to file a complaint against Dr. Janssen at Maple Hills Clinic. Although I am sure that nothing will happen I would like to discuss my concerns. I chose Dr. Janssen to establish primary care. I watched Dr. Janssen’s video online and thought she would be a good doctor. When it came time to my appointment, Dr. Janssen did not ask questions about my history. Dr. Janssen did not se, like she cared about my concerns and just anted to get my appointment done with. I explained to Dr. Janssen my concerns with my history of irregular periods and pain in my ovary area. I explained to Dr. Janssen that I have had ongoing pain and irregular periods. Dr. Janssen ordered a blood test, which showed that I have an elevated hormone level. Dr. Janssen told me that I do not have PCOS and indicated this based on my testosterone level. Dr. Janssen indicated that I had an adrenal mass based on these labs and ordered a CT scan. I was sooo worried and sick the entire week after she told me… I could possibly have cancer. I called the office 3 times that week to try to get additional information. The first time I called I was told by the doctor that I had an Adrenal Adenoma, which she indicated was benign My first thought was…how does she know this if she hasn’t seen it on imaging?? I then called again for doctor Janssen. Dr. Janssen returned my call. Dr. Janssen indicated that I had a mass on my adrenal gland based on my level of hormone and cancer was low on her list. Dr. Janssen indicated that I had a mass based on my levels. I then called again, hoping to talk to Dr. Janssen. I was informed that Dr. Janssen was off that day and got a returned phone call from a PA. This PA (Jamie Owens) indicated that Dr. Janssen was off that day so she might be able to discuss concerns with me. Jamie indicated that Dr. Janssen should not have told me that it was a benign tumor when she had not seen it on imaging. Jamie also stated that she has been informed before that Dr. Janssen has had complaints on her before about not spending enough time with her patients and leaving patients feeling as though she does not care. I spent the Entire week feeling sick to my stomach and puking because Dr. Janssen told me that I had a mass on my adrenal gland and there was a chance it was cancer. After explaining my concerns of pelvic and ovarian pain, Dr. Janssen never once suggested an ultrasound or exam of my pelvic area. Dr Janssen continuously told me I did not have the signs of PCOS and it was more than likely a mass on my adrenal gland. When Dr. Janssen called me to tell me my results of my CT scan I told her that I went to an OBGYN, which diagnosed me with PCOS. Dr. Janssen indicated that she was shocked because my BMI was not high enough to fall in the category. The OBGYN indicated that my BMI was 2x normal. What kind of doctor indicates your BMI is not normal when clearly it is over 2x the normal limit? Also, I was told that 30 percent of PCOS diagnosed individuals meet all criteria for PCOS, yet Dr. Janssen told me I didn’t meet any and did not take the time or effort to look in my pelvic or ovary area. After going to an OBGYN for a second opinion, I was told the the doctor should not have ruled out PCOS and should have done a pelvic exam or ultrasound. As a patient going to the doctor for the first time in forever and being told you had a “mass on your adrenal gland” it was VERY scary. I made myself SICK the entire week because of this doctor. I have heard such negative things about this doctor and would hope no one would go to a doctor that tells you such negative information and sounds such little time with their patient. Part of me is thinking..did she order at CT scan so that she could get more money? Or does she not know how to do her job? Obviously its one of the two because she did not care to look more into my symptoms and concerns. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone and would hope that this doctor does not diagnose anyone with any serious conditions. She does not know what she is doing and obviously tells patients false information. (Obvious when her PA even says so). Such a rude clinic. I will never return.

I have also now sent my adult daughter to her. She is attentive, listens, and makes sure all is addressed before leaving her office.

I'm so glad to have a Dr that is not only competent but she seems to actually care. I have and will continue to refer people to her.

Excellent doctor; she knows her stuff and I appreciate her; she has been there for my three daughters.

Dr Janssen is very attentive to the diagnosis of symptoms and thorough in her prescription to heal. I'm proud to recommend her.
