Dr. Mohamad Shaheedy, MD

Currently I am 21 years old female,and went to Dr. Shaheedy from birth to 14 years old. Going through puberty is a though time for any child, and the way Dr. Shaheedy interacted with me and my mother was very unprofessional. I remember I was 12 years old 5' at the time and weighed 127lbs. I also just started menstruation. He ridiculed me, telling me I was fat, unattractive, and tried to make a bet with me to encourage me to lose weight (specifically 5 pounds in a month). Keep in mind i was a very active kid. I understand the concern for childhood obesity; however, if it is such a case the professional way is to interact privately with the parent to encourage life style changes. It was very wrong to tell a child, who is already insecure going through puberty, that she is fat, and unattractive! I remember crying and never wanted to go to him again. It's not a surprise I suffered from Anorexia Nervosa for 2 years after until I got help obviously from a different doctor! I doubt i… would've developed anorexia if I never went to Dr. Shaheedy. I was not an obese child, my weight gain was NORMAL; yet coming from a professional that you are fat and being so is unattractive, ruined my perception of normal at the time. Children ate GROWING! Right now I'm 5'4" and weigh 132.

I was referred to Dr. Shaheedy by many people. I just moved from midwest and I heard so many horror stories about the office waits and how most doctors spend such little time with you in their visits here in California that I was so carefull who I am going to pick for a pediatrician. I have done so much research and I asked a lots of people where to go. But now that I found Dr. Shaheedy, I am so happy. He is so caring and has such good sense of humer with kids that my kids absolutely love him. He is so knowledgable and he just doesn't give the kids some antibiotics for everytime they have a cold, he realy cares and makes sure they don't get over medicated. His office staffs are so nice and helpfull. He never rushes you and he answers all your questions with lots of patients. I think so far he has been better than any other pediatrician I have ever been to.
