Dr. Mohammed Chowdhury, MD

I saw Dr. Chowdhury at the Modern MD in Brooklyn 2x. The first time he was a creep who made weird comments hitting on me. The last time was hands down the worst medical experience I've ever had. He was screaming at me because I got a flu swab and it came back positive. I have been having recurring flus and working with specialists to try to get to the bottom of it. I get swabbed at Modern MD because it has been too hard to get an appointment with my PCP during covid times, just for a flu swab as my PCP is always booked. My visit at Modern MD with Dr. Chowdhury ended with him screaming at me for having the flu and that I'm wasting everyone's time there and that no one wants me there, I got up, told him he has no bedside manner and proceeded to leave. He was still screaming at me as I walked out, and then he began screaming at his staff. I've never had such a terrible experience. He was wildly rude, dismissive, and uneducated. For someone who's specialty is influenza, you think… he'd at least have some insight (or perhaps, empathy).

Short answer: Dr Chowdhury accused me of having psychological problems when I complained about still having breathing problems after an ER visit 2 days prior. Note: I have a long standing history of asthma Long Answer: I've seen Dr. Chowdhury many times and over the past year or so his service to patients has degraded so much that it led me to write this review. My latest (and will be my last) visit with him was unimaginable - in the way he dismissed my concerns (regarding difficulty breathing) and then in less than a minute called them my “psychological problems” while pointing to his head. His exact words… I personally believe that was absolutely uncalled for because I know the difficulty I am going through, but let’s say for a minute he was “right” about it being all in my head - I still do NOT believe that any patient deserves to be addressed in a harsh, rowdy manner ESPECIALLY if they are going through something psychologically. I know alot of people, especially health care… workers, are under stress given covid, but there were so many better ways to address me as a concerned patient. I didn’t just come into the office to receive a covid test like many patients at this time (I was given a test and came back negative, which I believe is the reason why he was inclined to being dismissive of my concerns) but I came to address a health issue after spending a night in the ER and not getting any better while my PCP is not available. I turned to an urgent care, was given a covid test and was expected to leave after a negative result. My total interaction with him was a 3 minute conversation in which he barely heard my concerns, claimed I was breathing fine (I had taken medications prior to the visit so I suppose he wasn’t wrong, but I was still wheezing), and then continued to repeatedly say it was my psychological problem without checking my lungs at least. Regardless of the facts, whether I was wrong or he was, no patient deserves to be spoken to in a rude, careless, dismissive, insensitive, or impatient manner by a physician meant to hear their concerns.
