Dr. Mathew Isho is WONDERFUL!! He is very compassionate and caring. Before seeing Dr. Isho, I saw 2 other surgeons. The first, Dr. Krishnamoorthy, refused to help me, until I lost 30 pounds. This doctor cared nothing for my pain. I have had a painful hernia for the last 3 months now. It took me several weeks just to go through the HMO primary physician-specialist-surgeon process. I FINALLY get in to see the surgeon, Dr. Krishnamoorthy, and he tells me he will not repair my hernia until I lose 30 pounds! How can I lose weight if I can not exercise due to pain, and a hernia threatening to protrude worse? I told him that it took me 6 months to lose 25 pounds, I can't wait another six months, I am in much pain every day, all throughout the day. He said, it shouldn't take six months, maybe only 3 or 4. I was sobbing, saying that I cannot go through another 3 or 4 months of this constant pain. He said losing weight would make the pain better. I said that's not true, because I had… been losing weight, and the pain is getting worse. He said he thinks that after the surgery, I would be inactive, and get so fat I would pop my stitches!! Do you know how much weight I would have to gain, and how fast I would have to gain it, to rip open my stomach? I could not believe what he said! I begged him, explaining that I was in a lot of pain everyday, but he did not care. He told me to come back in 6 weeks, and if I had lost enough weight, then he would talk about hernia repair! Condemning me to another 6 weeks of pain! Then, he had the gall to make a joke on the way out of the exam room: he said, (regarding my weight loss), "Keep it up...or, rather, down! And he smiled! Ha Ha very funny doctor!! Glad you can laugh at my pain, and refuse to help me. A few days later I ended up in the hospital emergency room with extreme pain and nausea. The doctors determined it was not a life-or-death situation, because it was not my intestine poking through my muscle wall, but some fatty tissue. They gave me medicine for the extreme nausea and pain, and a referral to some local surgeons who he said were good surgeons. I was still kinda loopy, and did not look at all the papers until I got home. All 3 referrals he gave to me were in the same office as Dr. Krishnamoorthy! I made the appointment anyway, hoping one of the other surgeons would take my pain seriously. I saw Dr. Jackson, who brought up my official complaint I lodged against Krishnamoorthy, and said if it were not for my pain, he would also not operate. At least he acknowledged my pain, and the necessity for the surgical repair, confirming that his partner, Krishnamoorthy was wrong, and should have operated because of my pain. I felt Dr. Jackson was begrudgingly agreeing to operate, because of my complaint about his partner, and I sensed some veiled resentment. I went to Dr. Mathew Isho the next day, who showed intense concern for my pain, and scheduled me as soon as possible for repair surgery. He said that my weight was not a problem but that my pain was his concern. I LOVE Dr. Isho, located near Sharp Grossmont Hospital, also in Hillcrest (his other office). He is a true doctor, who honors his Hypocratic oath, and is not an HMO puppet like the others, who postpone treatment as long as possible. THANK GOD FOR DR. MATHEW ISHO!!!! I highly recommend Dr. Mathew Isho to anyone and everyone who needs hernia repair surgery!!
