This person should lose their license. The lack of empathy I experienced as a patient in crippling pain reaching out for help is absolutely horrific. This was the person on call who gave me a call back from the after hours line of a practice where I had been seeing other providers for a few years. I was a well established patient. During my call for help I expressed being in enough pain that I wanted to end my life, the response was "do what you think is right". I then had to google my symptoms in order to convince myself I was not over reacting and that I did actually need medical attention. At the ER I had to be given opiate pain meds just in order to stay in the position they needed me in for the MRI. The MRI found that I required surgery for a condition where the worst case scenario included paralysis. When I advocated for myself and told the practice very firmly that I did not want this person involved in my case as they had already failed me, they cancelled my surgery in… retaliation.
