Dr. Mohit Mehra, MD

My husband almost died because Dr. Mehra didn't send test results to his oncologist. My husband was being treated for testicular cancer and his liver numbers were continuously bad. He was referred to Mehra to see what was wrong with the liver so they could continue his chemo treatments. He told us he didn't find anything. After the oncologist felt there was nothing more he could do, he referred us to UAB oncology. They treated him with aggressive chemo since he had been taken off for so long. He went into ICU for a month and almost died. In addition, during the time when the chemo stopped, the cancer metastasized to his brain. The wonderful doctor at UAB asked if he had ever been tested for Hepatitis. I contacted Mehra's office thinking surly they tested for this since it was to figure out what was going on with his liver. They immediately told me that he did test positive. When I asked why we weren't told nor the oncologist that requested testing, they said it was in the doctor's… notes so they thought he told us. I checked with the oncologist office as well and they did not receive any information. Our lives were changed forever because Mehra didn’t look over or at least didn’t forward the information in his notes. We are still living with the nightmare.
