Dr. Mollie Elizabeth Thompson, MD

Dr. Mollie Thompson was a delightful care provider. She was thorough with her exam and explanation for diagnosis and where to go from here. She stated "my heart goes out to you" in regards to chronic pain. Her front desk staff was courteous and concerned and her nurse/ma was caring and thoughtful. I would highly recommend her and her team to any patient needing a rheumatologist.

I don't remember if she followed up, but everything else was great.

I am totally pleased with the care I receive from Mollie Thompson, MD. I have been her patient for approximately 10 years. I only wish I could have her as my primary care physician. I am totally confident in her line of treatment she has tried on me. She is conservative in her decision of what to try.

Been seeing Molly Thompson for close to ten years now, and I have improved dramatically since starting treatment with her.

Ms. Thompson did not take time to discuss my physical problems. Started the exam, but did not finish apparently because of moderate pain levels. Did not communicate this to me, but to my PCP at a later date. Completely minimized what I was feeling. Nothing was resolved. Did not want to actually try to find out the source of my problem made worse by a genetic disorder. I was told it's a rheumatologist that can diagnose most anything. But if it's not arthritis, she didn't seem interested. Gigantic Failure to her patient, who now has nowhere to turn for help.

Went to see her from recommendation by other doctor for possible fibromyalgia. She did diagnose me with fibromyalgia, and when I asked her what a person should do to help, she said "there are a lot of good books out there, pick one up and read it". Perhaps she doesn't know a lot about it, or maybe she was behind schedule. She did spend about 15 minutes with me and ran me through a variety of clinical tests. Could be I hit her the wrong way when I told her I didn't want to have fibromalgia, especially since people didn't believe in it. She told me "it is a real disease and anyone that says otherwise, doesn't know what they are talking about". Well, I do agree with her on that. She seems to really know her stuff, but her public relation skills need brushed up on.

In Thompson's world and Thompson's mind, if a patient has a 2% chance of having lupus, then that patient definitely does not have lupus.

This doctor came in the room and first thing out of her mouth without hardly looking at me or ordering any of her own tests, "Well I don't you think you have lupus." Her reasoning is that only 2% of patients are ANA negative - faulty reasoning based on my history, bloodwork and symptoms, but I doubt she bothered to look at my file. She spent maybe 10 minutes with me and her demeanor was cold, elitist, not compassionate. She was in a hurry and treated me like a waste of time. She said my butterfly rash was definitely not a lupus rash and she suggested I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome AND Rosacea (even though a dermatologist did not think it was rosacea). I now have a DEFINITE lupus diagnosis from a good rheumatologist based on bloodwork abnormalities and a wide range of symptoms, including the classic malar rash. My doc also says being ANA negative is not uncommon and usually shows up eventually, as the disease is known to hide. So Dr Thompson was extremely narrow-minded, if not… just plain wrong, to give that as her only supporting evidence. I am now started on Plaquenil which takes 3-6 months to kick in and I am miserable from a painful, debilitating mystery illness that I have suspected was lupus for 5 years now but for quacks like Thompson and Romea. Dr Thompson didn't mention that the 1 month I had been prescribed to take Plaquenil had no impact on my symptoms because Plaquenil takes 3-6 months to kick in. Probably because she didn't read my file and didn't spend anytime talking to me. Because of her and Dr Romea's incompetence I could have been feeling better by now getting the appropriate treatment and avoiding irreversible damage to my tissues. Lupus is a serious disease that can cause life threatening problems if left untreated. I have been sick and miserable and unable to even work, getting progressively worse for over 5 years. Luckily I went to a good Rheumatologist who ordered specific tests (Dr Thompson did NONE) and went over the results and my history thoroughly. I meet MORE than the required 4 of 11 criteria for SLE diagnosis. And as for Thompson's very unqualified CFS diagnosis: there is no cure for CFS and the cause is unknown, so her misdiagnosis left me with no real treatment options and feeling more depressed than ever! She didn't talk about my medical record and she didn't answer my questions. She ordered no tests and no follow up and gave me no referrals or helpful information. An awful and condescending doctor who gives bad information and doesn't seem to care about patients at all.

I absolutely love this doctor. She is very personable, extremely knowledgeable in her field, and spends as much time as I need with her to make sure she has my complete history, answers all my concerns and questions. I can't say enough good things about her. I have spent more than my share in specialists' offices, and she is impressive in that she genuinely cares about her patients. Very rare in this age of "cattle drive" medical care.

Dr Thompson is possibly one of my favorite doctors Ive ever had the pleasure of dealing with. And I am not sure why folks are writing unpleasant things about her assistant, I have never had a problem with her. She is always nice and always willing to help. She might not be as bubbly as some would aparantly like, but she gets the job done, and she does it very well. She always gets back to me promptly and helps in any way she can. I would hightly recomend both Dr Thompson and her assistant. They made a huge difference in my quality of life.
