Dr. Mona R Mikhail, MD

I've been wanting to write a review to warn others for a very long time, but switching doctors can be a difficult process. I'm a 31 year old female that came to Mona ten months ago to acquire medication to help my lack of concentration. As you can see from other poor reviews she has, Mona's lack of awareness and empathy is alarming. My fourth visit, she was reading from my file and asked me how I was doing. I told her I am very happy being on the 10mg of adderall I have been taking for the last couple of months. She then asked "and who is prescribing this to you?" I thought this was a test or another one of her condescending comments, but I was shocked with the surprise on her face when I said....Mona you have been prescribing this for me... for the last three months. She then took her frustration for not remembering out on me. She asked how my blood pressure was, and I said it is normal, I'm a very healthy young adult, I don't have any health problems. She said "normal isn't a number… KATELYN!" She then picked up her blood pressure machine and used it five times on my arm before saying it is broken and it's my responsibility to get this checked and tell her the number. This was really painful and I had to look away because I intuitively felt she liked to see me in pain, but I had already gone this far with her, and I finally had my script that was helping me. I thought if I complied she would eventually get better and be nicer. That did not happen. I had to argue with her to get this, perform ridiculous physical examinations that doctors were perplexed with, was told it is contingent upon a marijuana drug test, (even if it was medical marijuana for A.D.D.), and had to endure countless interrogations and threats of her not filling the script. She told me on my first visit "you can't possibly have A.D.D., you would be bouncing off the walls" and "why haven't you gotten help before" I was shocked that I, as a patient, had to explain to her the difference between A.D.D. and A.D.H.D., and made to feel bad for not getting help sooner...even though I had just been told by a therapist who also has A.D.D., that this is what she thought I had. Instead of A.D.D., she told me I have a mood disorder as she watched my mood change while in the office. I told her this was because she kept conflating dates and events and misremembering what I was politely explaining to her, and I couldn't help but show the frustration on my face. She wanted to prescribe a mood disorder medication that could cause suicidal thoughts and etc. I told her I did not suffer from depression, and thatI was frusterated with my lack of concentration. She treated me so poorly that I cried almost every time I left her office, but it was too cumbersome to switch doctors at this point, esp. while suffering with severe concentration problems. She would continue threatening to not fill my script, asking if I smoked marijuana, and if I did she would terminate my script, implying I want adderall for various other reasons like weightloss, etc. I had to change my appointment last month and left a message asking her to call in my script for this month until I can see her for my appointment on the 22nd. Her secretary just called and told me she terminated me as a client and will not be filling my script because "I keep trying to change pharmacies" even though I have had the same pharmacy for the past six months, minus one time I went to the west coast for work, and I had to get a plane home to get my script because she said she was not going to risk her career to call the script in to another pharmacy. She has made me get multiple tests and jump through hoops for this script, and has always been very condescending the entire time. I even took my mother with me to one appointment in hopes she would treat me better. Instead she treated us both poorly. I am happy to move on, with a doctor that is fully present mentally, knowledgeable on adult A.D.D., and treats me with respect. I was wondering if it was just me, but when I was in the waiting room I had another family ask me how she was, and they told me their son is really frusterated with her. I will have to go a month without my script I am dependent upon until my new doctor can fit me in,but I would rather do this than have to see her again.

Have been going to this psychiatrist for almost 2 years. During initial evaluation I had a hunch she was not doc for me, when she tried to give me another patient's medication, however, kept seeing her without any progress. She is not attentive and does not seem to care at all.

I had my first appointment with the doctor today. The secretary is rude. When I walked in she said she thought I was not coming to the appointment meanwhile I just spoke to her on the phone an hour earlier. When I asked her why she thought I wasn't coming she said well we have a policy that we want you to be here 20 minutes early for your first appointment. meanwhile I was 15 minutes early and would've been 20 if I wasn't stuck behind a salt truck. The doctor asked you questions until she gets the answers she wants to hear. She change my one medication around that worked really well for me. Her reasoning for it really did not make much sense to me. I know that I am not a doctor however, I do know my body fairly well. She is not a compassionate person at all she has an air about her and is cold. I was trying to tell her things that I felt were pertinent to my issues and she kept interrupting and rushing me. I really do not have many positive things to say about her. I will not return… to her office. I think her bedside manner was the explanation in itself why her office was so empty.

You will wait at least 40 minutes beyond your scheduled appointment time. She has very little concern for punctuality, nor does she seem to care that her patients have their own schedules to keep. Personally, I like to be on time for appointments and am usually very busy. I couldn't plan for anything else on the days I had appointments, and this is why I had to fire her. Her secretary is very nasty as well. If it weren't so hard to find a psychiatrist with openings she would most likely have to close her practice.

Office staff is pretty nice. Dr Mikhail is ok. She constantly calls me the wrong name when I go to her office. On the last visit she asked how my trip had gone. The trip took place the year before. She also doesn't take my insurance and there was a big hassle over that.Asks the same question like 20 times til she gets the answer she likes.

Very caring. Would like her to be more prompt with appointments. It could be becasue she takes time and listens to her clients.
