Dr. Mona Mahendra Shah, MD

Mona M. Shah, MD completed my gallbladder surgery and she and her office staff are/were great! All were kind, compassionate and professional. Dr. Shah I thank you for your expertise.

I guess she's one of those new doctors out there that doesn't want to prescribe pain killers for either fear of losing her license for over-prescribing, or legitimately believes she's fighting the Opiate Crises in America. Whatever the case, after my surgery I was in the worst pain of my life. I was hurting so much I could barely even speak . I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy. I called her office requesting stronger pain medications, and they just simply said no and that the pain "was just part of the healing process." Thankfully I have a doctor in the family that prescribed me pain medication that worked, but I know most people don't have that option, nor do I think they should have to rely on such. The surgery however; it went great. Recovery was fast, and I didn't even need to take anymore pain medication after my fourth day into recovery. She's a very good surgeon/doctor in that aspect. My only criticism is that she basically left me out to dry when it came to pain… management. Maybe I'm just more sensitive to pain than others, or I have a higher tolerance to medication, but regardless, I think Dr. Shah should've taken better care of my pain situation. I wrote this to help assure that potential future patients are aware that they might find themselves without what I would consider to be required post surgical pain management.
