Dr. DeSai has walked me through every step of my battle against cancer. She has answered every question, she has communicated every step of my treatment, she has given me all the time I needed, whether in person, by text, or phone, to relieve me in times of my anxiety, she smiles showing she wants the best for me, she has direct eye contact with me, and she has demonstrated over and over her commitment to my care. I thank God for bringing me to her for her knowledge and superb care as my oncologist. She deserves 10 stars as I recommend her highly for anyone looking for an outstanding oncologist who is at your side throughout your cancer journey. Jennifer

Diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that has gone to liver, I’ve never been more scared in my life of anything. The surgeon doing my colostomy told me his educated guess and Dr Desai came to my room to let me know she’d follow up with me in her office the following week about “official” results. (Yesterday) When I tell you she had her ducks in a row I mean it! She said she thought that based on my liver and the placement of the cancer that MAYBE a liver specialist could cut it out, have a GI specialist cut tumor out of colon and have yet a 3rd surgeon reverse my colostomy that we were told would be a way of life until tumor shrank, IF it shrank with chemo. While in her office, the liver doc texted back, agreed with her opinion, and 8:30 the next morning his office was calling me in the next day. She sat in front of me, looked me in my eyes, made sure not to give me false hope, yet Hope was all I got by this new news of cutting it out that we thought wasn’t an option. She… collaborates with other phenomenal doctors and doesn’t just take your health in to her hands, alone. She sat there and answered questions from me, my mom and my husband for over an hour. Never rushing me, in fact commenting on my questions and telling me they were good ones. She was thoughtful and considerate, knowledgeable and I found her to be compassionate as well. I’m just starting off with her, meeting her twice, so it’s early but based on what I’ve seen, she’s very pro active is trying what it takes to be rid of the cancer and wants to be sure I’m comfortable with it. She stated 1st meeting that I may not even lose my hair but yesterday I told her I didn’t care about hair and if it would get rid of the cancer I’d let all the hair go. So she said she note that. When I mentioned maybe going to MD Anderson for a second opinion to see if they’d treat it the same she was gracious and said she wanted me to be where I would feel comfortable. Never making me feel uneasy for wanting to do that. She said if it’s in her patients best interest SHE, herself would refer them there if that’s what she thought they needed. I am considering staying with her after our visit. That’s how much I feel she’s doing the right the things with my health.

I was assigned to Dr Desai when Dr Frankie Holmes retired which was absolutely insulting! No comparison between the fabulous Dr Holmes and the sorry excuse for a Doctor Dr Desai. SO condescending! The first time I told her about the heat intolerance from the Letrozol, she told me “You need to be wearing cotton”. The second time I brought it up, she claimed this problem wasn’t from the Letrozol! When I started with another oncologist in the practice, she said “Of course it’s from the Letrozol”! I got something in the mail about an irregular mammogram before Dr Desai got around to telling me. Multiple calls required because they weren’t returned by her assistant even though I was assured they would be. Terrible experiences with Dr Desai and I should have changed to a new oncologist much sooner!
