There, she trained under internationally recognized leaders Dr. Marc Philippon and Dr. Matthew Provencher and gained advanced experience treating complex sports-related injuries and caring for athletes at every level, from recreational athletes to elite and professional competitors.
Throughout her training, Dr. Arney has remained actively involved in orthopedic research, with particular interests in ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, postoperative rehabilitation, and improving patient outcomes. She has authored and contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented her research at national and academic meetings. Her work has been published in leading orthopedic journals, including Arthroscopy and the Journal of Orthopaedics.
Dr. Arney also brings a personal understanding of the demands, challenges, and rewards of athletics to her practice. A former Division I student-athlete at Michigan State University, she competed on the varsity women’s rowing team from 2010 to 2014. She was a full athletic scholarship recipient, served as team captain, and competed at the NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing National Championship. Her accomplishments were recognized with Michigan State University’s Student-Athlete President’s Award, and she was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar during each of her three varsity seasons.
Her experience caring for athletes extends beyond her own athletic background. Dr. Arney has served as a team physician for Monticello High School football, the United States Air Force football team, and the United States Olympic Ski and Snowboard Team. These experiences have further strengthened her passion for caring for athletes and helping them safely return to the activities and sports they love.

She is committed to combining advanced surgical expertise with compassionate, patient-centered care, taking the time to understand each patient's goals and develop a treatment plan that fits their lifestyle.
Outside of her clinical practice, Dr. Arney remains passionate about education, mentorship, and giving back to her community. She participates in orthopedic student outreach, mentoring, and community health programs and continues these efforts in the Raleigh community.
