Dr. Monisha Sen, MD

I saw Dr. Sen in 2019 for a routine exam, I was 26 years old and about to leave for an overseas trip. Dr. Sen was not friendly, and I didn’t mind that so much, but I did have some questions for her. For a few weeks I had a strange feeling in my abdomen, like I was really bloated. She felt around my abdomen and instructed me to exercise more (and asked, rudely, when was the last time I exercised) and told me to try a gluten free diet. I asked for more testing, imaging, anything at all because I really didn’t feel well, and she basically repeated what she had said and rushed out of the room. A week went by and I still didn’t feel right, and I knew my vacation was coming up, so I called back for a follow up appointment. Dr. Sen was on vacation herself (she left the day after my appointment, which is probably why she rushed my exam), and so I had to see a different doctor at the office. This doctor was kinder, but also dismissive at first when I told her about my bloating. She told me to… avoid gluten and enjoy my trip. Eventually I broke down due to my frustration, and this new doctor agreed to order me an ultrasound (she didn’t want to order a CT scan because “I don’t want your children to be born with three arms”……what??? I don’t think that’s how it works, but ok)…. I call an imaging facility as soon as I leave the office and get my ultrasounds done. Results took a week to come in, or the doctor waited a week to call me, idk..but guess what??? I had a lot of free fluid swishing away in my abdomen!!! I knew I felt bloated! (My trip had to be cancelled at this point, and good thing too! What would have happened if I took Dr. Sen’s advice and travelled?) Meanwhile Dr. Sen and the second doctor told me to avoid gluten and exercise. Dr. Sen wouldn’t listen to my concerns because I was young, and she was extremely unprofessional and rude. After seeing multiple specialists (and shortly thereafter I was hospitalized for a month) it turned out that I had blood clots blocking my liver, which caused the fluid in my abdomen. And the cause of the blood clots? Blood cancer. But not to worry Dr. Sen, I’m sure exercise and avoiding gluten would’ve cured me. I understand that not everyone has such a serious diagnosis, but that’s why more tests (like an ultrasound…) should be ordered! Help your patients, don’t dismiss them.

Do not go to this office- The receptionists are RUDE, not helpful and flat out lied about sending my blood work papers to my house that was needed to bring to another dr. Got hung up oh and waited for an hour for a repeat blood work. Terrible experience every time I have been to or called this place. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Dr Sen has helped me more than I can ever express! Her caring and comfort thru hard times she went above and beyond.

this doctor has consistentlygiven sound advice and is really interested in your health
