Long Story Short- Dr. Gottlieb and his team at North Dallas Ear Nose and Throat are PHENOMENAL. I love Dr. Gottlieb, Ana, and Heather. They are knowledgeable, kind, have a great sense of humor, and work together like a well oiled machine. They brought the highest level of professionalism with the highest level of personality. This team genuinely wants to take care of you, and they want it to be as easy as possible to get your health where you want it to be. I had surgery on my nose (details below) performed by Dr. Gottlieb, and the whole way, from diagnosis to post op was a fluid process. I am currently still healing, about a week and a half since the day of surgery, and the difference is amazing. My sinus pressure is gone, and there's SO. MUCH. AIR FLOW. If a friend or family member of mine ever has trouble breathing- or any other ENT issue, I am sending them straight here. I can't explain how life changing this procedure is already and I am not even fully healed!
More Details for… those who want them- I was referred by my primary care physician, and came in with a very vague idea of what was going on with my nose. Dr. Gottlieb very effectively found the problems (there were a few) and helped me set up a plan of action. He recommended a surgery that included a septoplasty, turbinate reduction, endoscopic sinus procedures (mainly unblocking and enlarging the sinuses, forgive me- the actual procedure names are long), and a Latera. I have never had a surgery in my entire life, and you'd think I would have been anxious, but this lovely man put me at ease, explaining everything in a concise, factual, and NOT SCARY way! I always joke that the opposite of my anxiety is knowledge, and with Dr. Gottlieb, that anxiety didn't hold a candle to all the information he supplied. I read on his bio that he is also a pediatric ENT, which makes TOTAL sense. He has the kind of personality and vocabulary that soothes the fears and concerns of children and adults alike. In pre-op, even with a fear of needles and general anxiety, I found myself actually relaxing (maybe even dozing off) in pre op waiting to go in. Everything went great, and I was back home the same day. The whole process from in the door to out the door was only about 6-7 hours. Post Op, I felt super supported- shout out to Ana who answered all of my emails in a timely and clear way, answering any questions I had.
If you're worried about pain, everyone is different, but I found mine to be mild and very manageable. It was pretty comparable to the sinus pain I was feeling before. Speaking of. I had pain in my left sinus for months (it was completely blocked). It hurt to the touch. The first thing I did when I got home was press around my eye where I had felt all that pain… And it was gone. Completely. Like someone had popped a balloon and all the pressure was gone. I thought maybe it was that I was on good pain meds, but I am off them now, it's been a week and a half, and I haven't had ANY sinus pain since that day. That alone is life changing. I feel like my eye can relax now, I am less irritable, and I'm honestly just generally in a pretty good mood especially the past couple days since getting the splints and mesh removed.
The day of and after those splints were removed, I started really experiencing what my "bionic nose" (Dr Gottlieb's term which I love) can do. For starters- I can breathe! Now I thought I could breathe before. I didn't know how blocked I was. I have never ever felt this much air flow through my nose. Every breath I take feels like such an easy breath. I'm not even fully healed! Apparently it gets even better with time! Silly as it sounds, I keep thinking my nose is running or bleeding or something, only to realize it's dry- I keep mistaking the amount of air coming out of my nose for leakage! I didn't realize how little air was going through. He did say I was 90% blocked, and I believe him. It is night and day. I can also smell SO much better. Kind of unfortunate for some smells, but I was in a restaurant yesterday and was having a great time basking in good food smells. I think things taste better too honestly. I can also breathe through my nose when I sleep now, and for the past 2 days now I have woken up to my alarm clock and actually just- woken up! I used to be a person who needed to take naps all the time- like I could never quite catch up on sleep, or could never sleep well. I have had so much energy the last two days. My focus is better, mood is better, and general daily stamina is better because I can actually sleep. I am already kind of developing a habit of being excited to go to bed and get a good night's rest. I know it's only been 2 days, but I hadn't gotten a good night's sleep in who knows how long. I have another post op appointment in 2 weeks along with an allergy test, and I am honestly excited to meet with these lovely people again.
Overall, I couldn't imagine a better experience, a better team, or a better outcome (and it's still healing!!!!) If you are looking for any ENT services. I highly recommend this team. Give them a call, and I guarantee they'll get you taken care of.
