Dr. Morris Kletzel, MD

Dr. Kletzel easily made the most difficult time in my four-year old little boy's life, and mine, somehow "better" because of the type of doctor and man he is. My little boy had cancer, specifically leukemia. Dr. Kletzel was his transplant doctor, although my son called him Dr. Pretzel when he was up to being playful. Dr. Kletzel showed our family far more than his clinical side. When bad news needed to be given to me, Dr. Kletzel was clearly pained in telling me, sometimes even with tears himself. On the day of my little boy's bone marrow transplant, Dr. Kletzel gave my son a fireman troll toy gift because he knew that he wanted to be a fireman when he grew up some day. He first surprised him by puppeting the troll from an inner entry window looking into my son's transplant room. That's the kind of doctor Dr. Kletzel is! Very sadly, my little boy died about five weeks after his transplant began. To this day, more than 20 years later, I still look at Dr. Kletzel as one of the… greatest gifts that was given to my son, and to me, during the hardest time of life. I will never forget Dr. Kletzel's expertise, skill and knowledge. But, most of all, I will never forget his most sincere, loving, kind human heart! Any child, and family, would be blessed to have Dr. Kletzel play a role during such a trying, often painful time of their lives.
