Dr. Mounir Maher Mekhail, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Mekhail for approx. 3 years now. Prior to seeing him, my pain mgmt doctor had me on 8 hydrocodone a day!! I was take 2 every 4 hours. I hate the way it made me feel. I could tell it was changing my brain chemicals and wanted off. I went to Dr. Mekhail and explained to him my situation. I just wanted to feel normal again along with pain free. He told me about Subutex. OMG! The very 1st dose I noticed I felt 100% better mentally. He had me email him personally my progress and he really walked me through the whole process. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for Dr. Mekhail. He doesn’t play games! So if you are just seeking pain medication, then he is not the doctor for you. He genuinely wants to help, and will listen to your concerns.

This doctor does not belong in the medical field in this country. His website says he speaks English, but he speaks it so poorly he is very difficult to understand and he doesn't understand you either. He is rude and chooses to argue with you rather than admit he might have misspoken or misunderstood. What should be a simple conversation turns into a harague. I've been seeing him for a few years because my former doctor retired and I would have changed doctors already but that's very difficult to do in the area of pain management. Look elsewhere people.

I have been seeing Dr Mekhail for about a year. He told me on my first appointment that I needed to give the medicine time to work and that he will play with the dosage and slowly build me up to the required amount without it giving me any side effects. I was patient and after about 6 months the pain I was having went from a 9 down to a 2. I have lived with this pain in my legs (caused by the nerves in my back) for about 15 years and this is the best I have felt in that long. I am so grateful for Dr Mekhail and I am glad that I had the patience to let him do what he needed to do in order to help me. Thank you Dr Mekhail for all you have done for me.

I like Dr Mekhail. He reviewed my chart sent by my family doctor and talked to me extensively and asked me questions. He listened to my concerns. Doctor changed my meds in accordance with my pain abs what my insurance would pay. He adjusted it three times to my satisfaction. I am able to be mobile with much less pain. Dr. M also has bed side manners. I am grateful.

I have recently been required to see a pain management specialist because I take narcotic medications for my fibromyalgia (and other illnesses) which I have been dealing with for many years. I have been under the care of the same neurologist for 25+ years and he has helped me to live a somewhat normal and functional life. But, the laws regarding narcotics have changed and we must comply. I was hopeful that this would not be a nightmare experience like I have heard so many have had but that was not to be the case. I have never been treated so badly by any physician, ever. There was absolutely no understanding for where I was as a patient or empathy for the fact that the medication he had prescribed to me had caused me to vomit violently (not even a recognition that this was not good). His summary of the situation was that that I only wanted what I had been taking. I was stunned. I have no idea how he came to that conclusion since I was completely open to trying any other medication… he wanted me to try. My experience with this doctor was one of THE WORST I have ever had in my life...not the only one but by far the worst. Not only did this man treat me like I must be an addict, but I am now without pain medication and having to go through this ordeal with another pain specialist. So sad, P. Basler

My first visit with Dr Mekhail was about 9 months ago. I had been on Tramadol for over 8 years and was happy with it, or thought I was anyway. I was taking 8 pills a day and it was helping with 40% of my pain and I learned to live with the rest of my pain and limit where I went and what I did. Dr Mekhail refused to prescribe me Tramadol and insisted I start taking Buprenorphine. He explained it wasn’t as harmful to me as Tramadol was, and he explained all the damage Tranadol could do to my body and internal organs with long use. I am stubborn and set in my ways and was not happy at all with his suggestion. He was patient and spent over an hour answering my questions and explaining the medication he wanted to prescribe to me and the benefits I would see from it. Even though I left there very skeptical I decided to try it. I agreed to email him daily with any problems concerns and any side effects I had. He told me to stop the Tramadol immediately and get it out of my… symptom before I started the new med. I thought it would be a piece of cake, 3 different doctors had told me over the years Tramadol was not addictive so there would be no withdrawal symptoms. Wrong! The withdrawals were very much there; stomach cramps, nausea, headache, body aches, sleepless nights, it was terrible. I tolerated it for 5 days before I started feeling some relief. I was furious to find out Tramadol IS an addictive drug! Very much so! I was skeptical about taking the new drug he prescribed because instead of taking 8 pills a day I only had to take 2-3 half pills a day. The first day I took 1/2 of a pill I could tell it was working within 15 minutes of taking it. What a relief! After three days of taking it 60 to 70% of my pain was gone! Unbelievable! For over 8 years I was happy to get rid of 40% of my pain and this wonder drug took away 70% right away! My life has changed a great deal because of this drug. I can walk standing erect again, I can walk faster than I have in years, I can drive and ride in my car without excruciating pain. I can once again clean my house and go places and do things I’ve not done in over 8 years! It’s amazing! And what’s really great is I’m not popping 2 pills every 6 hours. And I owe it all to a very determined doctor, Dr Mekhail. He’s made my pain manageable, which in turn helps me enjoy life once again. He’s a great doctor and he’s got a lot of empathy and compassion for his patients. But the main thing is he knows medicine. He’s very knowledgeable in his field and he knows what he is doing when prescribing pain medication. I HIGHLY recommended him to anyone suffering with chronic pain.

I started seeing Dr. Mekhail after years of pain management (without success). Within a couple of months of my first visit my pain has been well controlled and I have been able to start doing some things I hadn't been able to do in years. Recently I had an issue with my insurance company and my medication. I thought for sure I would have to go through the weekend without it but Dr. Mekhail and his team worked tirelessly throughout the day, and by the end of the day my insurance company had approved my medication and I had it with me so I wasn't bed bound all weekend. You're the best Dr. Mekhail!!

I have been seeing Dr. Mekhail for a few years. He cares about you and your treatment. I started taking Suboxone a long time ago. I think Suboxone helps with a lot of things. At one point I was taking 16mg a day. At this time I'm taking 1mg a day. With time I will stop all together. I was seeing another Doctor for Suboxone before I went to see Dr. Mekhail and I always thought he had no thought's of stoping or reducing Suboxone for me. I have a shoulder that is not repairable by surgery replacement surgery is the diagnoses. That is Suboxone has got me thru some tough times. Dr. Mekhail challenges you to see if you really need the dose you are on or maybe reduce or in some instances raise your does. To me that is a good doctor. He is not just refilling you regardless of your condition.

I was at this dr office where they leave pee in the same room they weigh you bring someone that can hold your things very unprofessional. I waited 2 hours I live 3 hours away to found out he only pain management on neck and back patient never told me he doesn’t do anything else but was going to give me medication really medication to fix everything. He doesn’t should not get a star but you have to leave a star to get to send
