Dr. Moushumi Shoma Datta-Thomas, MD

Do not go to this doctor. Mortifying experience during annual GYN appt. 10 minute appt. Didn't ask 1 question (??!!?!). Laughed at me when explaining a medical concern. Asked sarcastically "Are you an expert in pap smears?" when I asked for one due to a medical issue. Asked me to make a SEPARATE appt for a pelvic exam (which is standard for annual GYN appt). Told me "I can not help you based on info you're giving me" and would not answer any questions I had on GYN medical concerns. When I asked what info I could give her to help, she said to make separate appt for each of concerns (PCOS, painful intercourse, painful periods).

I did my second surgery with Dr.Datta, and she is simply great. Both surgeries were done so easy, and I felt so great both times. She is so nice to approach....hope I will not need a third surgery....but if I do I would do it again with her.

Before my visit, I tried scheduled to get the Gardisil vaccine at the same time which they said wasn't a problem and I get there and she tells me she doesn't have time to see if there is enough left and bc shes running late for her video calls. When I tried to reschedule they canceled on me the DAY OF - TWICE - bc they ran out of vaccines. She also never refilled my prescription and never contacted me about why/ what to do, etc. I was also charged for the annual visit which should not happen with my insurance. Just never been so frustrated with an office before.

Wonderful doctor, initial appointment had to wait over 45 minutes before being seen, but overall experience was great.

She entered annoyed. Comes across like she hates her job, argues with pts subjective info, and when I asked MD to not massage injection site, MD insisted, despite question. Ver defensive and cold. Other practitioners more professional in practice.

Not only is the wait time consistently between an hour to two hours, but the front staff and a few of the nurses are very rude and extremely unprofessional. By the time my fiancé and I actually get to see the doctor, I always feel like I'm being rushed out of there. Every time I ask a question she makes me feel like what I'm asking is stupid. She's also very sarcastic and makes a habit of talking down to people. I always hope that my next visit will be better than the last and chalk up her negative attitude to her having a bad day or an abundance of patients. If I could give her one star on this review I would. However, this site doesn't allow me to give her anything less than two stars. One more than she deserves if you ask me!

This place is filthy (She is now at 425 W 59th Ste 5D). On the initial visit Dr. Datta was getting over a cold and coughed on me during the ob/gyn exam ... 2nd visit - during a procedure, in a dirty, filthy room where they don't even change the plastic cover on the rolling light (gross) she coughed on me again - DURING THE EXAM. They had an open urine sample sitting on the sink in the bathroom with a test strip laying over it. The nurses aren't hygienic. They were 30 min late on my appointment both times. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Waited for 30 minutes on hold on the phone today, only to be sent to voicemail. Dr. Datta would not listen to my concerns when she put pillows under me while doing a biopsy. She was not able to complete the biopsy and refused to try it without the pillows. I asked if she would try again without the blankets, she agreed, charged me twice for the same procedure, and missed a cancer diagnosis. I found a more capable doctor, and am cancer-free only because of my insistance on better care. She disregarded my emergency when I passed a large, toothy clot. This clot saved my life because I went to an oncologist, since Dr. Datta dismissed my concerns.

I've seen quite a few doctors, and Dr. Datta by far, is the most caring and knowledgable doctor. She makes you feel totally comfortable and will answer any questions you may have. If I ever leave NY, I will commute just to see her!

I highly recommend Dr. Datta. During my labor aside from being patient, calm & knoweledgeable- she kept in mind all my needs and handled everything so well.She delivered my healthy 9 pound baby last week. I couldn't of wished for a better experience.
