Dr. Muhammad Afzal, MD

Dr. Afzal is a great doctor, he listens and asks questions to get to know your medical issues. I have never met a doctor that takes the time he does. I highly recommend Dr Afzal and saw him for around 9 years.

Dr. Afzal's office staff was great. I have never written a poor review for another doctor but Dr. Afzal was really frustrating and then billed $184 for a very bad office visit. My son's pediatrician referred him to Dr. Afzal due to blood work that indicated allergies. I also provided Dr. Afzal with medical records from specialists who had performed biopsies and suspected food allergies. My young son even smiled at me in amazement at how abrupt and absentminded the doctor was during our visit. People make mistakes and have bad days but that Dr. Afzal dismissed detailed blood work results as a fluke, ordering a second round of painful blood draws to confirm his suspicion, even with biopsy results from specialist that supported the blood work being correct. A competent and focused doctor would have put the pieces together like a detective instead of constantly repeating, "Why are you here?" as though I had nothing better to do then watch him struggle with his computer system and… typing. He did not view constipation, headaches and vomiting as an indication of a food allergy even in the face of blood work and biopsies that indicated otherwise. He scoffed at the idea of a possible gluten sensitivity. "Why does everybody always blame gluten?" Fecal sample results (he knew they were pending) came back within the week with inflammatory markers 5 X higher than normal. Following the advice of my son's nutritionist, he has been off of gluten for 5 weeks and the results are incredible. He no longer suffers with headaches, vomiting and constipation and most surprisingly, his ADHD symptoms went away. Find a doctor that will listen to you, previous history and test results. A fecal test is far better value than an office visit with Dr. Afzal if you suspect allergies.
