Dr. Muhammad Qasim Cheema, MD

When it came to relocating, Nephrologist Qasim Cheema, M.D., felt the lake area was a great choice both personally and professionally.

"The people here are very hospitable and welcoming," he said. "We feel it will be a great place to raise our children, and we are looking forward to becoming part of this beautiful community."

According to Dr. Cheema, his older sister who was studying medicine at the time influenced his decision to pursue a career in health care. "And, most importantly, it just felt right," he said. Dr. Cheema specializes in diagnosing and treating complex kidney diseases and their resulting conditions, such as hypertension, as well as diseases that can cause kidney failure, such as diabetes mellitus and polycystic kidney disease. He also oversees dialysis and provides long-term care to kidney transplant recipients. Dr. Cheema and his wife, Ayesha Bashir, M.D., have a 20 month old son, Zain, and a four-month old daughter, Zoya. Dr. Bashir, an internist, will join Lake …Regional Clinic Lake Ozark in December. In his free time, Dr. Cheema likes to exercise, cook and visit with friends and family. He also plans to take up a new outdoor hobby here at the lake most likely boating or golf.
