Summary
For Muhammad Ahsan Saeed, MD, FACP the inspiration to embark on a career in medicine came from his father’s example. “He was a tireless caregiver for my grandfather. He inculcated the importance of compassion and dependability in me as a kid,” Dr. Saeed explains. “Sometime during my teen years, while looking at my father’s dedication, being a caregiver became my passion and I journeyed on to my career in medicine.”
He chose pulmonology because “it requires critical attention and at the same time the compassionate ‘do no harm’ aspect necessitates thoughtful steps; this forms the basis of pulmonary and critical care medicine. This duality drives my passion for the specialty.” He chose Beacon for “the opportunity that comes with working in such an established regional center.”
When it comes to caring for his patients, Dr. Saeed believes in compassion and a strong work ethic, coupled with a team-based approach and a desire for excellence. “Over the years, my patients have taught me a …great deal, but most importantly I’ve learned vulnerability as a human and the fighting spirit that connects all of us as one tribe.”
As for his philosophy, he believes that knowledge is power. “I hope I can help my patients better understand their disease and how to come to rational conclusions to manage it together as a team.”
In his own words…
