Dr. Muhammad Suhail Smith, MD

Mr Smith had me come in every 12 weeks for my thyroid. Every time I want to leave his practice the Dr would personally call me & beg me not to leave. I told him every 16 weeks is too much. So I left & found a family Dr to give me a year prescription!!

I f I could give 0 starts, I WOULD!!! The receptionist is beyond unprofessional!!! To say the least, she's not someone (or something) you should have as the face of your business. Then, as if that weren't enough, I waited about 45 mins to be seen(I came 10 mins early). To top this whole horrific encounter off, the doctor came in, and in 2 minutes (I'm not exaggerating), this man was already trying to stick his stethoscope on my THICK COAT to discharge me. Like, how did you even hear anything? It was a ski coat. Throw the whole entire practice away. He needs to go back to school and learn the bedside manner part all over again. Horrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend this so called "doctor" to anyone. Not even my dog!

I am not sure if he is worse or his secretary, Dawn . Dawn is so rude that it’s surprising that she’s working at doctors office. I have seen her being rude to Dr. Smith which is interesting. Dr. Smith makes me come for the follow up appointments every two months and wants to make money via co-pay. He spends less than two minutes and put stethoscope on me while I’m wearing a thick jacket; not sure how he can listen to my lungs sound while I have a winter coat on me. Sad to see that there are doctors who have become money making machine. Dr. Smith, at least fire Dawn who is extremely impolite.

She is grumbling and mumbling on the phone: she sounds extremely frustrated: funny thing I have seen her being rude to Dr. Smith . Sometime I think she is an employer of Dr. smith. This woman does not have any etiquettes or manners to talk to patients. She is the most unhappy and irritable person I have seen:

I have hypothyroidism and have been on the same dosage for 10 years. Dr Smith makes me come every quarter for an appointment but spends no more than 2 minutes with me. He puts the stethoscope on me for about 2 seconds so it is obvious he is going through the motion and not truly evaluating my health. Whenever I have a question about a symptom that could be related he always indicates I should inquire witH my PCP or GYN. Don't waist your time and find a dr that will be concerned about your true well being.

He the excellent doctor and bed side manners

I made a new patient appointment with ease and I appreciated the time spent on the phone with me by the receptionist. She explained how to get there and what I would need to bring and did a reminder call. So far, so good....well I got there and the office is an very old historic house which COULD be beautiful but it was disgusting inside, very dirty and smelly. I was greeted by the receptionist with a smile and given the paperwork (which by the way looks like a child wrote them and added to them, could barely read) . The receptionist was dealing with a very busy phone and waiting on people at the window in a very professional manner (how she did, i'll never know) I was taken back by the nurse who was very happy and laughed and joked with me...although right away I could tell the doctor was bothered by that and immediately sent her out of the room., but only to call her back to sit IN BETWEEN us and work on the computer. He would ask a question and not even listen or look at me, he… only focused on the computer and that was ALL!!! very rude and disrespectful to the nurse, he kept getting up to pick up the phone or go somewhere else..I didn't even know my appt was over and I really didn't know anything about anything...I checked out and I witnessed him basically interrupting phone calls with the receptionist and when I tried to talk to her he interrupted me and MADE her look something up NOW...but she kept smiling...and did it. he was very rude and disrespectful to her as well. I wasn't happy at all and will not be back but I do appreciate the ladies there , I honestly don't know how they deal with him, a filthy work environment, and lack of help from him or compassion. Maybe they can find a doctor who will appreciate them! Others love this doctor, but not me...won't be back!

The receptionist is polite and deals with an antiquated phone system. The Dr. asst. is rude and extremely disrespectful to Dr. Smith. She repeatedly complained about the terrible salary. Dr. Smith seemed unable to establish the required leadership role. My last 2 visits were embarrassing, to both Dr. Smith AND me, because of the asst. surly behavior. I had no choice but to look for another Endocrinologist.

Dr. Smith was a God-send for me, I really don't understand the low rating. After firing my prior doctor who insisted my thyroid medication, levels, etc were perfectly fine, even though I was still have tons of major symptoms, I found Dr. Smith. He immediately did tests that my prior doctor told me were not necessary, that I couldn't possibly have Hashi's. Low and behold, my antibodies were through the roof and I did have Hashi's. Dr. Smith immediately changed my medication. That medication made a difference but still wasn't perfect, so Dr. Smith suggested trying Armour. Armour (and Dr. Smith for putting me on it) gave me my life back. Dr. Smith is also open to alternative meds too and answers questions you may have. The only thing I can think of that might be why he's rated lower is that he doesn't always spend the most time with patients, but if you have specific questions, etc - he makes that time. It shouldn't all be on the doctor, you need to take some responsibility for… your health too and know to ask questions or for more explanation (yes I agree a doctor should do this too, but they are busy and sometimes they don't have time or don't realize they aren't giving you all you need - but that's when it's your job to jump in a say, slow down, explain this, etc).

Dr. Smith is not a good diabetes dr. He failed to spend more than 15m with me. Didn't review family history nor showed concern. The bldg looks abandoned, it's outdated and smelly (underarm). Never asked questions but prescribed another insulin for me to take. I eventually went to Christiana Hospital and what a difference. Christiana's Dr's were thorough and seemed to care. Dr. Smith is charging yr Medicaid, Medicare and insurance companies for top $$$ for a service he is not giving. BEWARE! **Do not recommend**
