Dr. Mulugeta Dessie Kassahun, MD

Dr. Kassahun is a very mellow doctor who is thorough and makes sure you are comfortable and your questions are answered.

I highly recommend Dr. Kassahun. It has been 14 months since he performed a radical prostatectomy and I am doing fine. No problem urinating, no incontinence and erectile function working great! I could not be more pleased with the results.

Several years ago, I had developed a kidney stone that needed immediate attention. At the start of this treatment procedure, which took place at University Medical Center (UMC) in Nevada, I clearly remember Dr. Mulugeta D. Kassahun and an anesthesiologist (who was wearing a red, white, and blue bandana at the time) standing alongside me as I quickly drifted into an unconscious state. Upon waking up, there was a strange feeling and an intense soreness in my mouth. Days later, I asked Dr. Kassahun (who currently practices at Urology Specialists of Nevada) about the operation. He assured me that everything went well and things were fine. Later, I found out that this awful doctor radically glossed over the truth with his fake reassurances. In fact, I needed to visit my dentist about a week and a half later. I was still experiencing a very painful sensation in my mouth. Wisely, I made an appointment with my dentist. Dr. Scott Brown of Comfort Care Dental Group (a fine dental expert… who recently passed away) discovered at the time that a portion of protective tissue covering my lower jawbone had been ripped away. This dangerous situation obviously occurred during the careless intubation process of Dr. Kassahun's kidney stone surgical procedure. Dr. Brown promptly urged me to see an oral surgeon, which I did. A small piece of lower jawbone was then removed, and fortunately the healing process seemed to go smoothly. I subsequently reported Dr. Kassahun's deceptive cover-up of this terrible mishap in a formal complaint to UMC shortly thereafter. The Better Business Bureau was also contacted. Refusing to ever become a patient of Dr. Kassahun again, I'm rather surprised and extremely disappointed that he still has his medical license. I strongly encourage everyone to avoid such an uncaring and corrupt charlatan. I believe that he's a poor doctor and a horrible excuse for a human being. My advice, therefore, is to stay far away from Dr. Mulugeta D. Kassahun.

Dr. Kassahun is an excellent surgeon. He is attentive, checked on me every night, answered all my questions and performed a difficult surgery. I had my left kidney removed and when he went into the area he found part of my colon wrapped around the kidney. He removed my kidney successfully and I had six inches of my colon removed as well. The office staff is extremely pleasant and very responsive. Dr. Finkelstein assisted in the surgery and I highly recommend both of these physicians.

I felt Dr. Kassahun was professional, informative answered all of my questions and concerns. Everyone, in the office from the front desk personnel to his assistances were helpful. When I went to check out I needed additional testing the lady at the front desk assisted me with the appointment and direction.

I visited this Dr for a vasectomy. It was a referral from my primary. He has zero personality and talks to you like what you have to say means nothing. I got a complete hack job and had pain for an entire month. I was polite and respectful but he saw me as just another man and perhaps a paycheck. Zero sympathy for the pain and basically said you’re done, goodbye. When a person deals with something personal as a vasectomy it would be nice for the dr to at least pretend he cares but Dr Kassahun doesn’t. I regret letting him do my procedure and would never refer anyone to him

He is not a compassionate person. He didn’t remember his patients or what he had treated them for . He didn’t know what the follow up appointment was for. My wife had to go back to the hospital after complications was ther for two day and the doctor never showed up to check on her . Kind of scary when a doctor that operated on you , and doesn’t seem to cy after that . I would not recommend this man to My worst enemy.

He asked me what was going on, I told him I was sent in by my doctor for my BPh. He started shouting at me, "are you a doctor?" Are you a f--king doctor?" I was very calm and polite to him and tried to ask him what he would like to do or thought about treating me. He started yelling again as if he was deranged, "I don't know, maybe there is nothing I can do, maybe you're going to die!" I felt as if he must have been on drugs to have been acting so crazy and had to set up another appointment for a second opinion with a different doctor, all together the office has kept me waiting for almost 6 months suffering without any treatment. I'm . a little worried the doctor I see next week has worse reviews that this jerk.

I have been seeing Dr. K since 2012 and would not give him up as a urologist, however, his scheduling department (namely Rachel) is in my opinion incompetent. She does answer her phone or return calls. Her recording states that calls will be returned In 24 to 48 hours. First of all this is unacceptable to patients, not just myself. She does not return your phone calls. If she does, she returns them after hours (5 PM) with a message to call her back if you have any questions. Funny thing is....after 5 PM the answering service picks up the phone and takes a message that you never know if she received or not because she does not call you back to respond to the message that you left. I have an appointment on the 20th that she called and left me a message for the time and date and address of the appointment. I called again to ask her to repeat it so I could look it up. This was Monday the 12th and I have yet to hear from her. Will try calling the regular appointment department today… so I might be able to get this catheter removed so I can go about my daily life. IF I can find where I am suppose to be.

Removed my cancerous prostate with no complications. If you follow this doctors instructions you will have a good outcome.
