Dr. Munique Pinheiro Maia, MD

This is the second time that I undergo surgery with Dr. Maia. She performed a mini-lift and neck lift to rid me of sagging skin under the chin and to reduce laxity and puffiness around my nasolabial folds. The procedures were performed in Dr. Maia’s office under local anesthesia. In the pre-op appointment, Dr. Maia listened very carefully to my concerns, explained in detail what I should and should not expect from the procedures under consideration, including a regular face lift, and when I opted in favor of the mini lift and neck lift, she explained very clearly that tightening the muscles and skin of the neck during an in-office procedure had its limitations. Hence, I had realistic expectations going into the surgery. Well, I was wowed when Dr. Maia removed my bandages during my first post-op appointment. All traces of sagging muscles and skin under my chin were gone, and what I saw in the mirror was the face I had ten or more years ago (I am now almost 70). Inflammation and… bruising were minimal and I needed no pain killers. Now, two weeks after surgery, my face is looking as if I had nothing done, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Dr. Maia tailored the surgery to my specific needs after examining my face and neck. Her surgical skills are unparalleled. I love the fact that she modifies her surgical approach to deliver exactly what the individual patient wants. Dr. Maia is always flexible, always kind and considerate, always willing to stretch the limits of convention just a little if necessary and safe. She clearly loves her profession and stays abreast of state-of-the-art surgical techniques, yet she is conservative when recommending procedures. Her calm, reassuring manner puts you at ease right away, and she never ends a consultation before having fully addressed all of the patient’s concerns. I must put in a good word for Dr. Maia’s office staff as well. Everyone is warm and gracious and a pleasure to interact with.

I absolutely adore Dr. Maia and her team. They are perfectionists and I couldn’t be happier! She is hands down the absolute best in class. My procedure was done in office under local anesthesia, and I felt absolutely no pain (after the initial pricks from the numbing injections). The results she was able to achieve are nothing short of miraculous, but what’s great is that you would never know that I had any work done if I didn’t tell you. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Maia prior to the procedure, but after seeing first hand how thoughtful, precise, and gentle she is I trust her beyond words.
