Dr. Murray Allen Brown, MD

I was Dr. Brown’s patient for 15 years and was on Effexor the entire time. I then decided to switch psychiatrists and he recommended a previous student of his, Dr. Alexander Korchmarev. Under Dr. korchmarev’s supervision, I decided to titrate off Effexor. He had me withdraw over 4 1/2 months. I went into a horrific withdrawal experience of terror and panic 24/7. Dr. Korchmarev even diagnosed me with PTSD as result of the magnitude of my debilitating symptoms. At the time, I didn’t know that the FDA recommended that if withdrawals were this bad, that the patient should immediately be put back on previous dose and titrated off more slowly. Dr. Korchmarev DID NOT DO THIS. He kept trying drugs on me like Latuda and VIBRYD since he had samples in his office. Long story short - it’s been 7 1/2 years and I NEVER RECOVERED. I lost my career, have PTSD, Anhedonia, a form of Neurotoxicity and treatment resistant depression. I’m on Disability and suffer severe memory loss and regular suicidal… ideation. Tried 5 other psychiatrists who didn’t know how to help me and lots of drugs. Wasn’t a candidate for TMS. Why didn’t Dr. Murray Brown teach these psychiatrist idiots about the FDA recommendations? Or did Dr. Korchmarev “forget”? And when Dr. Brown first prescribed Effexor for me in 1995 - why wasn’t I given INFORMED CONSENT about possible dangerous, life destroying withdrawals? These psychiatrists should be in jail - but I’m paying the price for trusting them - I lost my life and my self.

I was prescribed Effexor in 1997 by Dr. Brown for ICD Ruminations. In the beginning it was very helpful. But he never told me about the possible DANGEROUS, HORRIFIC WITHDRAWALS after long term use. Dr Brown never gave me INFORMED CONSENT. 15 years later he recommended I see an incompetent psychiatrist named Dr Alexander Korchmarev in 2011. He supervised my titration off Effexor but NEVER told me about possible withdrawal symptoms. After last dose I went into sheer terror 24/7. He kept giving me samples of Latuda & VIBRYD and more to stop it. Finally took benzos. Turns out he titrated me off WAY TOO FAST since Dr Brown had me on it for 15 years. I was diagnosed with PTSD from the evil withdrawals and NEVER RECOVERED. I have brain damage and Anhedonia and constant suicidal ideation. MY LIFE HAS BEEN DESTROYED and I’m on Disability. I lost my career in television. Dr. Brown and the idiot Korchmarev don’t know anything about Effexor withdrawals. I trusted them and they ruined my life.… It is so hard to stay alive everyday! I’ve seen 6 psychiatrists since and tried so many things but nothing helps. And I refuse ECT because of stupid ignorance by Dr. Murray Brown and Dr. Alexander Korchmarev. There was no justice for me. They got away with a crime!
