Dr. Murtuza Ahmed is proud to be a member of Memorial Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Associates. Along with the founder, Dr. Jamal Razzack and his colleague Dr. Mir Alikhan, their mission is to provide the highest quality of care using state of the art diagnostic and treatment skills. The caring physicians at MPSDA have all trained in world-renowned institutions, mastering advanced techniques in Pulmonary, Sleep and Critical Care Medicine. Some of the common ailments and illnesses Dr. Ahmed treats include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, occupational lung disease / allergic reactions within the lungs, and pulmonary vascular diseases, including pulmonary hypertension. He also specializes in treating complex lung diseases, interstitial lung diseases / lung fibrosis, and lung infections, including tuberculosis and pneumonia. Dr. Ahmed is also trained to screen for and diagnose lung cancer. Dr. Ahmed diagnoses and treats a full range of sleep disorders, both common and rare. These include obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, and narcolepsy. Sleep apnea testing is performed at Memorial Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Associates' comprehensive Sleep Center that is fully accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Ahmed believes strongly that a team approach to your health offers the best chances for success and so he will work closely with your primary care provider, as well as your other specialist providers to coordinate care.
Dr. Ahmed received his advanced training at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he completed programs in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. While there, he also completed a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and served on the faculty. His expertise focuses on complex sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and insomnia.
In addition to the services provided in our office locations, Dr. Ahmed provides consultative services at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, Houston Methodist West Hospital, Houston Methodist St. Catherines Hospital, and Kindred Town and Country Hospital. He is board certified in Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Ahmed also provides around-the-clock Critical Care as an intensivist (ICU physician) at Houston Methodist West Hospital.
