N. Joseph Farris, DDS
Dr. Joseph Farris is originally from Danbury, Connecticut. He completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Drury College graduating summa cum laude in 1980. Dr. Farris received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1984 with honors, from University of Missouri. Following completion of Periodontal Specialty residency training in 1992 as Chief Resident, at LSU in New Orleans. The residency training included research in bone physiology, which led to publication in leading periodontal journals. His residency also included extensive training at Ochsner Medical Clinic in infectious diseases/immunology and Charity Hospital anesthesia training. Dr. Farris was the first periodontist to obtain Board Certification in the Specialty of Periodontology in 1995, in Sarasota County.
Dr. Farris practices in Sarasota and Venice, Florida and focuses on periodontal plastic micro surgery, regenerative procedures, pre-prosthetic periodontal surgery, and dental implants procedures. Dr. …Farris continues to participate in advanced training of various aspects of Periodontology which includes microsurgical procedures and plastic and reconstructive periodontal surgery. Dr. Farris is a member of the Sarasota Dental Specialty Study Club. This study club consists of practicing specialists in Sarasota who collaborate to provide their patients with state of the art dental treatment.
Dr. Farris is married to Barbara Farris who is a clinical social worker employed at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and in private practice. With their daughter, Victoria, they enjoy traveling, skiing, and community service activities.
He is also a member of the American Board of Periodontology, American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, and Florida Society of Periodontology.
