Dr. Nadiya Orestivna Beliveau, MD

My father was diagnosed with Cancer and we were told by his oncologist in Mankato that it was imparative to start Chemo as soon as possible. They indicated they could start 2-3 days later so we started calling for second opinions. We were put in direct communication with the on-call oncologist at the University of Minnesota Medical Center who agreed it needed to be started asap and said if transferred, she could start the next day. She also said she would absolutely accept his transfer immediately and had a bed available. We contacted Dr. Beliveau who was his Hospitalist for the day at 6:50pm and she said "My shirt is done at 7pm so this can wait till tomorrow morning." This would have meant delaying chemo another day and he was already going downhill. She even had the nerve to say "It's not an emergency" but when all the Dr's agree that time is of the essence and his condition was quickly going down, I would say it's an emergency. She refused to do the transfer and left at her… 7pm time. Turns out we then were able to work with the charge nurse who made us aware that since we already had a Dr ready to accept him, that it was actually an easy process. 2 hours later we were on our way to Minneapolis. If Dr. Beliveau would have had her way, my Dad could potentially of lost his life by delaying Chemo another day.
