Dr. Nagalakshmi A Shetty, MD

Dr, Shetty is rude and uncaring. I had a follow up visit on 11/27/24 to review bloodwork results. Upon entering her "exam" room, she was on on side and I sat on the other. The distance was about 12' to 15'. She sat behind a roll away desk and entered things into her laptop. Not once did she come over to examine me. What made it worse is that she was wearing a mask. It was difficut enough trying to understand her without wearing a mask on my first visit, but it was impossible to understand her wearing a mask on my followup visit. They billed my insurance company over $400.00, leaving me with some out of pocket. All she wanted me to do was come back for weekly visits. I will in no way go back to that practice. I also contacted the office manager Lisa, left a message and never received a return call. Tried calling and emailing Optum, but had no success. I would recommend to anyone going to another practice and seeing another physician

Be wary of a doctor who is employed by a pharmacy! Dr Shetty was rude and uncaring about my pain and my frustration trying to fill my prescription through her company. Due to an internal billing error between the pharmacy and the mfg, I was without my medication for 5 weeks. She outright told me that it was not her problem, she only prescribes the medication. She was not willing to prescribe another medication unless I went for a specific eye exam. After consulting 3 eye docs, they told me the test she required was not necessary. I had it done anyway. After doing so, she told me she did not understand the report sent to her and refused to write the script. All 3 eye docs told me an immediate exam was not necessary, I could have waited 6 months after taking. I am now going to another rheumatologist who has since recommended the med she would not prescribe. BTW, it cost me $0 from my local pharmacy instead of $2600+ for the other medication from her employer!!

You couldn't pay me to return to her. She repeatedly interrupted me, declined to listen to anything I wanted to share; she only wanted me to respond to her questions, which were narrow in scope. I told her I wanted to explore every possibility to avoid misdiagnosis - she ordered zero tests. I told her about all the bad experiences I've had on brain-chemical-modifying medications; putting me on another drug was all she was interested in. She was unempathetic, dismissive, and disinterested in my pain and suffering.

Thorough and so knowledgeable in all areas of arthritis, including rare ones. She is very careful to prescribe medicine that doesn’t interact with the ones I’m already taking. Great follow-up! Great bedside manner!

I was diagnosed with RA and was having pain. Dr. Shetty was not comforting. Her lack of feeling had me crying. I left her as a doctor. When you are dealing with an autoimmune disease, it is important to have a doctor who cares and looks out for her patients. I didn’t feel she did this for me.

She has a cold bedside manner

Dr. Shetty is very nice and has a comfortable way about her. The building in which her office is located is dirty, not well maintained and has an elevator which does not alway work. There have been times when I arrived for my appointment and the elevator was NOT IN SERVICE. This is totally unacceptable for a Rheumatologist's office, particularly one that serves many elderly patients. The woman at the front desk is nasty to patients and verbally abusive. She should stay away from patients as she clearly does not like working with people.

She moved and the office is better than ever!!
