Dr. Nagmo M Fatakhova, MD

An unethical, dangerous doctor way behind the times of modern medicine. Brings unfounded personal biases to her medical practice. Believes the only one way to treat depression is with SSRi's (spoiler: it isn't). This doctor lacks curiosity in her field and needs to catch up on some reading - as in, pick up a medical journal. Despite a profound ignorance, she remains condescending and arrogant. GO TO ANYONE ELSE. SERIOUSLY.

Dr. Fatakhova was difficult from our first appointment. She forced me (in my 30's with no medical issues) to get an EKG in order to continue treatment with a medication I had been on for 10 years. She wrote in her notes that I had issues with alcohol, which was completely fabricated (I had mentioned that I had a glass of red wine at night). Every appointment she tried to push SSRi's - a medication I felt was not needed and I was not comfortable taking. While she was on sabbatical for 6 months, my depression worsened, and I decided to try ketamine therapy (completely legal and FDA approved). At our very first zoom appointment back from her sabbatical, I immediately started to disclose that I began ketamine therapy, with full intention of telling her I was now open to SSRi’s if this treatment failed. However, upon hearing the word “ketamine”, Dr. Fatakhova reared back, gasped and exclaimed that I must be receiving street drugs and that she could no longer be providing me treatment. I… assured her it was legal, doctor-guided, and there was no drug-interaction with my current prescriptions. Even after she confirmed this information with her Director (and my other doctor), she said she no longer felt comfortable being my doctor, and dismissed me. I now cannot find a doctor who takes my insurance and is also accepting new patients. I am a depressed person who requires two monthly prescriptions and has been abandoned by Dr. Fatakhova because of her lack of knowledge and personal bias to ketamine therapy. I truly believe she is a dangerous doctor to those struggling with depression. She has some strange trigger to the mere mention of drugs & alcohol - even if they are legal and not abused - so god help you if you also struggle with substance abuse.

Dr Fatakhova caused me to dread my appointments with her. By trying to reach the "therapeutic dose" of medicine without taking my sensitivity to drugs into account, I ended up with terrible side-effects that damaged my relationships and my daily life. This doctor definitely doesn't listen and had a condescending attitude toward me. I wish I had known any better sooner.

I have been one of Dr Fatakhova's patients for about 4 years. She always goes the extra mile, takes time to really listen to me, makes me feel better every time I see her. She is completely honest too.

I will never see this doctor again. I went away from the appointment feeling worse than when I went it. She was rude and condescending. An absolutely horrible experience. Not something that you would expect from someone in her profession!
