Dr. Naimet Ahmed Syed, MD

I've seen dr. Syed for about a year and he is a wonderful man. He listens to everything I worry about even if I think it seems trivial he always has a great suggestion or a proactive alternative he is one of the very few doctors that I met in my life time that wasn't afraid to be himself or speak his mind. I believe he says what you need to hear, not what some boss would deem politically correct. Such a kind man, Im so sad to hear hes not practicing anymore! I

He was always so helpful and has always treated me with respect. One of the best doctors I have been to regarding psychiatric matters.

I began seeing Dr. Syed in 2006, when I was 16 and have seen him on-and-off (due to insurance reasons) since then. Dr. Syed is efficient, compassionate, objective in point of view, and open to suggestions when it comes to prescribing medications that may work for a patient if the patient's current medicinal regime isn't working out. Now that I am moving out to California, it pains me how unlikely it is that I will ever find another psychiatrist like him.

Dr Syed seems like a very nice man who has overextended himself, therefore, all patients do not get the help they need. He has NO office staff, and no way to get in touch with him besides voice mail. It is impossible to speak to him. Appointments/crises have to be handled by someone else because he is so hard to get in touch with. He has 1 secretary who works with the voice mail. That's IT!! When I have "begged" for an appointment, sometimes I get one but usually not. He just changes medications with no instructions as to why, and gets confused about what he HAS prescribed. He is , however a very caring and understanding doctor, just has no time or any way to contact him directly, which only happens if you manage to get an appointment. He is unsrupulous in his billing, and I don't want to hurt his practice by reporting this because obviously people need a psychiatrist for good reasons, and at least he has a heart. I have a terrible time getting him to call in rx's on time… sometimes, but I think that's because he's so busy. I used to always add "making money" but I think he's just getting older and can't keep up with things. When I call for refills I always tell him (on the VOICE MAIL) exactly what he is supposed to call in and give him my number and the pharmacies number. He has never contacted me. His secretary has a couple of times herself (I assume she has a big job keeping track of all the messages.)He has never had anyone confirm that I will receive what I ask for, I have to depend on the pharmacy. often he just calls them and tells them to give me "the usual" refills. I don't want to hurt this man, I have been his patient since 1999, but he makes mistakes, (like calling in refills for a medication I turned out to be allergic to 3 times that I had to pay for,) since I am disabled and someone else has to pick them up for me when I have a chance to find someone willing to do so. I really don't want to change doctors. I had a wonderful therapist who helped me immensly for 12 years, but she retired two years ago, and I can't find anyone to take her place, especially since I am on Medicare. I believe Dr. Syed should be held accountable for his actions, even though I personally like him.
