Visit and surgery was amazing I wouldn't go to anyone else

My brother has been suffering from Diverticulosis for over 10 years. We were told surgery may be necessary. We were referred to Dr. Mahmoud. When we met with her, she took the time to answer all of our questions and concerns. I felt okay with the idea of surgery due to her knowledge, expertise, experience, and confidence. Last week, my brother had his Sigmoid Colon removed through bowel resection at the Hospital at U of Penn. Dr. Mahmoud and her team did an incredible job! The surgery lasted about 3-4 hours as we were told it would. Everyone's bedside manner was great! When surgery was over, I got to speak to Dr. Mahmoud. She said everything was a success. My brother has been healing wonderfully since then. Each step of the recovery has gone as we were told it would. His stay in the hospital was 5 days as we had planned. His pain was managed and under control within a day or so. Everything went so smoothly. Along the way, I heard many great things about Dr. Mahmoud and how she takes… her time and is the best surgeon. I understand why she has that reputation! I'm thankful that she took care of my brother. Her team...also top-notch! And, I love the Hospital at the University of Penn. Best care ever in the friendliest place ever!

Skilled surgeon. You may have to wait to see her but that is a small price to pay to see one of the best doctors in her specialty. Go to a small hospital and see what you get. My experience is to run from that hospital and see Dr. Mahmoud if you need specialized care and want to live prosperously.

Dr Mahmoud is a terrible doctor. It was all a very strange experience. The first visit I waited 2.5 hour to be put in an exam room, at 3 hours a resident took my history then after 3 1/2 hours Dr Mahmoud came in and spent 15 minutes with me. She did not take her own history of the problem and did not exam me but talked wanting one other test prior to surgery. The next appointment I only waited 2 1/2 hours for another 15 minutes of her time during which she got consent for surgery. Again she did not examine my abdomen. I asked her about this and she said it is not necessary for her to examine me prior to surgery. I pointed out that i have multiple scars from 3 previous surgeries and asked if she would want to know how I healed. She said she's seem bellies before and will see it in the operating room. The operation went well but she did not see me in the hospital in the 2 days I was there. Again the follow up she was 2 1/2 late and spent 10 minutes this time. She glanced at my… wound. Over the next 2 weeks 2 stitches that were poorly put in came through the wound. Now 6 months later I have a hernia through the wound that she did not sew up right. I would caution anyone from trusting this person. Her staff said so many times how wonderful she is and caring. I found her to be like someone who was told how to act like a caring person but could not care less about me as her patient. I am a doctor and can say my care was horrible. I am looking for a new surgeon to fix her bad work now.

From the moment I consulted with Dr. Mahmoud I knew I was in good hands. Her experience and thoroughness in her evaluation gave me a lot of hope and optimism for the best outcome. Post surgery, her team checked on me multiple times during the day, but the fact the she was at my bedside every night answering questions and keeping me informed, impressed me greatly and helped my recovery. I recommend Dr. Mahmoud and her team without reservation!

Dr Mahmoud is the role model all doctors should follow!! She is the best doctor and best person inside and out! I completely trust her!!!

Dr. Nazzia Mahmood has given me my life back! Since 2012 I had had 3 Altemeier Procedures for rectal prolapse by 3 different surgeons in 3 different hospitals -- all of which had failed. Plus, I became incontinent in early 2018. In desperation I called Penn and asked for the most asked for rectal surgeon there. I was given 2 names and chose the female. No one had even suggested a colostomy until Dr. Mahmood's team. She performed the operation this fall. I am now happy, healthy, enjoying my grandchildren and walking with ease. Thank you a million times over, Dr. Mahmood.

Our experience with Dr Mahmoud was that she is a very skilled Doctor. She was very caring, kind and honest regarding the surgeries, and the inherent risks involved. Everything was explained. She is very professional and inspires a confidence in her. You can tell that those around her respect her and feel fortunate to work with and around her. All of the people I talked to, spoke of her in glowing terms.

So unhappy with the experience I had at the U Penn Hospital. I thought the doctors there are the best but after a horrible experience I had I will never recommended this doctor to anyone.
