Dr. Nakeya Dewaswala, MD

I was referred to MD Nakeya Dewaswala on 4/21/2025 at 8:30am. I've been having dangerously high resting heart rates in the middle of the night with shortness of breath and high blood pressure readings since March. This Doctor acknowledged my levels were high but said she didn't think a Heart Echo would show anything. She didn't take anything I said seriously and acted like she didn't believe any of my self reported symptoms. She even argued that my clinically validated blood pressure cuff at home was not accurate. Despite being in the ER downstairs just one week before with documented high blood pressure readings right on the screen in front of her. She then wanted to order me to wear ANOTHER heart monitor even though I had just worn one 2 weeks before from a different provider. The results were posted to my chart just days before my appointment . Nakeya Dewaswala had the most ridiculous nonchalant demeanor about my very serious health issues. There was no examination just a quick… listen to my lungs and she determined I was fine. At that point it was abundantly clear that she didn't care and wasn't the Doctor for me. So I told her I would be finding a different Cardiologist and I left. However, in her notes on my chart this woman blatantly LIED and wrote that I pushed a Nurse and that she was terminating my patient care because of that. I was shocked bc I never touched anyone and I'm the one who terminated my own patient care. It was the most unreal situation to deal with on top of already having several health issues going on. This nonsense only further delayed my diagnosis and treatment. I went to her for help and was treated in a very callous manner for no reason at all. I immediately contacted Patient Advocate Services and also made formal complaints with IDFPR and the Better Business Bureau. Above everything I'm just in disbelief that MD Nakeya Dewaswala was capable of lying like that on my medical records. It really speaks volumes about her character. Recently there was a surge of 5 star glowing reviews on here. They were all posted on the same day and all from foreign names. I can only assume it was an attempt to bury my negative review. This Doctor only had one review before I posted mine. Just goes to show that MD Nakeya Dewaswala is dishonest in more ways than one. I highly suggest choosing a different Cardiologist. Maybe someone who has integrity
