Dr. Nancy Louise Brennan, DO

Dr. Nancy is just what I needed in the way of a family doctor. In fact, I tried a family doctor in Bend who talked fast, and was so stilted, & now after 2 years, I fortunately learned Dr. Nancy was the opposite of these characteristics. I found her to show the utmost patience, listen to me like I mattered, ask all of the right questions to grow my confidence about what she could do for me & what I could do for myself. I have such confidence in her thorough review & her commitment to improving my health and longevity. She's a saint & a gift ! Julie Ward, Bend

Dr. Brennan chose to ignore my pain and growing hearing loss, because I kept making appointments, asking for help, and tests, which, as my HMO, made me a less profitable patient. I pushed for a hearing test, as my left ear was rapidly going deaf, I had throwing up migraines, severe back pain (I had a large schwannoma spinal cord tumor removed in 1992 before she was my doctor, it was in my records) as well as growing weakness, and pain in my arms & legs, neck, extreme oversensitivity, which all turned out to be part of a genetic defect I was born with, Neurofibromatosis 2! I moved to Boise, Idaho, and only 2 years after leaving Dr. Brennan's care, I collapsed from the large brain tumor, which was entwined with my brain stem, from the nerve that connects the eardrum to the brain, becoming a tumor. Luckily, I had a successful brain surgery, and several spinal tumor surgeries, as well as surgeries to remove tumors in my arms. Maybe I was lucky Dr. Brennan didn't diagnose me, I might… have had much worse outcome, if I hadn't gotten such good neurosurgeons, as I did, by moving to Boise, Idaho. She did at least test me for thyroid issues, and the hearing test, that she told the tester, she thought I was lying.

I told her I had a sore back and aching legs and needed x-rays. She told me to lay down and jerked on my right leg as hard as she could (twice). She did this without warning or telling me why. I was really hurting after. I did get x-rays and wound up having scoliosis and deteriorating disk (I'm 70 ) I felt abused by her. She had a nasty attitude from the minute she walked in and took it out on me.

Dr Brennan has always served me well by answering my questions and explaining what I have and how it is to be treated. Just think she is wonderful!

Spent close to 1 hr in exam room and she spent less than 10 min with me.

Im almost 20 and due to my young age I've always had a problem with Doctors respecting the rights I have to my decisions and my privacy. When I first stepped into Nancy's office I expected to be treated the same way. I responded no to being on birth control and that I didn't want to discuss options when her nurse was doing the primary questionnaire. I was pleasantly surprised when Nancy only asked about the contraceptives I do use. She did a very good job respecting my concerns and being a medical professional getting my results back and going the extra mile. I'm happy to go back to such a respectful courteous doctor

There is no finer general practice doctor in Central Oregon, period. Dr. Brennan is a rare gem who not only cares about all her patients, but she also listens. When I spend time with her, I feel as though I am the only person on her schedule that day (even though I am not). After spending as much one-on-one time with you as needed, she will offer an assessment and recommend treatment in *your* best interest. A pencil-pushing bureaucrat or pharmaceutical salesperson she is not. It's very rare to find a doctor these days who genuinely cares about his or her patients *and* listens. I have found her to be knowledgable in all aspects of general practice medicine, and even well-read in areas typically outside general practice. Dr. Brennan ranks right up there with some of the best doctors I have ever known and I am honored to have her as my doctor.

Dr. Brennan is a wonderful person but doesn't seem to be "cutting edge" when it comes to her knowledge-base. With five people in our family she has missed diagnoses more than once; fortunately nothing serious. Being pushed to use the nutritional supplements she uses/sells on the side is a bit of a turn-off, too. She has a good sense of humor and her assistant/husband, Joe, is pleasant. The health care facility she is associated with is disorganized, unprofessional, and the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing.
