Dr. Nancy Tienken Casella

This woman is a scam artist. She is an in network provider with our insurance. What does that mean? It means that she has a negotiated and contracted rate through our insurer, that she submits claims to our insurer, and we pay the co-insurance due when the claim has been finalized. So, you can imagine my surprise when she billed the ENTIRE cost to our card without submitting a claim to our insurance, let alone having a processed and finalized claim indicating the amount that we owe out of pocket. I spoke with her over the phone and explained that this was not permissible behavior (especially given that we had already hit our deductible for the year and I knew the coinsurance due by us would be substantially less than the total session cost) and she told me that she would be refunding the charges and submitting claims to our insurance. A month later, she had still done neither of these things. We were out hundreds of dollars that we should never have been charged in the first place and… finally had to submit a claim on our own behalf (even though this should NEVER have been our responsibility with an in network provider) to get back the portion of those charges the insurance would’ve covered had this criminal actually submitted the claims as she told us she would do and was supposed to do. We only did this after contacting her multiple times requesting that she do her job and bill the insurance, as well as provide the refunds she had already said she would be processing a month prior. DO NOT TRUST THIS PROVIDER.

My experience with Nancy has been favorable. I had been seeing her for a while before getting married. She has helped me through some difficult times. Not always telling me what I wanted to hear. She has since helped my husband and me work out some difficulties or struggles. I would recommend her to anyone interested in improving their outlook on life and making some positive growth.

I don’t suggest this person . I think she has some skills . However , I didn’t find her to be ethical. She saw me individually my then husband for individual therapy individually and both of us together for marriage therapy and that’s not good boundaries. She would say different things to me individually then she would ti the two of us together. She would deny things she said to me about him in front of him . It was a completely conflict of interest. It was a very upsetting experience.
