Dr. Nancy Nielson Futrell, MD

When I was experiencing stroke symptoms she outright made accusations and said "anyone can make themselves talk funny and make their mouth droop" I learned from a neurologist later that stress lack of sleep can bring on symptoms where your brain remembers and goes back to the first symptoms...I had no idea what was happening or happened and she certainly didn't help matters. I am a stroke survivor who experienced real symptoms that scared me...I prefer recovery- less than 2yrs and I am walking without any walker or cane..she had no right to treat me like that...

I found Dr. Futrell to be combative, condescending, rude, tactless, and patronizing. Her comments to me during my consultations were inappropriate and unprofessional. I have never been treated so poorly by a medical provider. The oath to "first, do no harm," is definitely not her strong suit.

I will tell you now that I believe these rave reviews are not for real. How can Dr. Futrell get 5 stars and then 1? On my visit she was rude, demeaning and treated her office staff terribly. I cannot believe she has any patients that come back. I would not advise anyone to go to her!

I have seen this doctor and done some research on her background, she is world famous in her area. This clinic is the only TIA clinic in the state of utah. Patients are seen same day, without prior appointments. I have seen some waits because of this--but I also see the top level of care. I went to this clinic instead of the hospital for TIA care, and this saved thousands of dollars. At the ER I would not have seen a stroke specialist. In reviewing the comments, a couple of people have said negative things that do not fit what I have seen in this clinic. The patients are satisfied, and I know this because other friends and family of mine have also been seen by this doctor.

As an RN/BSN I tend to put off my own care, so by the time I finally went to Dr. Futrell she got the ball rolling in high gear. She ordered ALL of the tests that I needed and her staff made all of the appointments for me - saving me valuable time. Many of the tests were done in her office the same day which saved me time AND money. She provided the doctors who became involved in my care with all the history they needed. Dr. Futrell discovered and orchestrated the repair of 3 ruptured discs, a hole in my heart, the end of my daily headaches and the constant pain in my entire arm. And she adjusted medications to decrease my stroke risk. I saw her in two of her office locations and felt the same personal interest at each. I would highly recommend Dr. Futrell to anybody with nerve or stroke problems/questions.

I am still shocked at my treatment from Nancy Futrell MD. I am a health care provider and so is my friend and we had the same experience. My first visit to her office was great. I saw the PA. He was caring and thorough. We were ruling out a stroke and she has most of the equipment to do that so I was referred to her. My second and third visit to her office were to see her. My first appt was 15 minutes and she gave me results, shot down any questions or ideas of mine, and didn't complete any neuro exam until I asked her to which I thought was strange since she'd never seen me. My second visit to her was 5 weeks later and still didn't do any neuro exam without a request and the one she completed was fairly violent. She told me I was compulsive and insinuated I was psycosomatic and said I just need to get used to my new symptoms which were my new normal. She initially refused to do an MRI of my neck so my PCP ordered it and it was grossly abnormal! My neck was the reason for my problems… and she completely missed it! I had surgery within a week and a half of seeing her with a renowned neurosurgeon in the area to fix my neck which has resolved almost all of my new symptoms. She was rude and offensive and raised her voice to me...completely unprofessional. I would never see her again, nor refer anyone in her direction.

Dr. Futrell has an awesome way of relating to patients, she is interested and personable. I really liked get a copy of my doctors note when I left her office. She answers all questions and has a great sense of humor.

The best doctor I have ever seen

This doctor will see new patients and established patients on the same day for symptoms of ministrokes. It saved our family hundreds of dollars as my wife did not have to go to the ER and be admitted to the hospital. 20% of Dr. Futrell's bill is much less than 20% of the hospital bill. Patients in this clinic often have serious problems and this doctor is very serious about her work. If you want accurate diagnosis and treatment this is your doctor. If you want a social visit this is not your doctor.
