Dr. Nancy Garza, MD

This place is the absolute worst. I have been coming here for years and every year I have to wait an inordinate amount of time. Today my appointment was for 3:15, was called into the office at 3:45, 4:45 came and I still hadn’t seen Dr. Nancy Garza. I was told something came up with an obstetrics patient, which is literally the excuse I have heard every year for four years now. Note to office and nursing staff, If that’s truly the case, just come in and tell me that. Don’t wait until 45 minutes later, after I’ve had to go out in the hallway half-naked to find someone, to ask me if I want to wait longer or reschedule! If you’ve got plenty of time to waste or want to be treated like your time doesn’t matter, this is the place for you. I, however, am done with Dr. Garza and will be going elsewhere.

I understand that people make mistakes, but I knew something was wrong with me. 8-10 months after I suspected I had Breast cancer I had a nurse practitioner explain that it wasn’t likely. They treated me like a hypochondriac because ‘Breast cancer doesn’t TYPICALLY hurt.’ Approximately 9 months later after a bloody discharge while breast feeding I was given an upright breast exam and was coached by a nurse practitioner that it was still unlikely to be cancer. 2 years later it was stage 4 cancer. It was in my skin, liver, and spine and of course the breast. During those 2 years I consistently shared my concerns with family and friends. There were 15-17 individuals who remembered my concerns. When I sought legal advice the lawyer in Knoxville was aware of Garza’s partner and spoke of wanting to get her license revoked. Unfortunately, my records along with ALL of their patient records were lost. I had testimonials from friends and a desire to focus my energy on healing, so I chose to put… my energy into getting better. Total cost of my chemo therapies was $93,000/month. Though I had insurance. I cannot imagine where I would be without it. Dr Garza’s partner, Tracy Traver, supposedly has a tech degree. I am not sure why the lawyer knew her, but I wonder if my records were conveniently lost once I was diagnosed. A new doctor from their office found my cancer. I was not notified of a records loss until after diagnosis. There are a lot of unanswered questions in my case. However, I know how many times I discussed my concerns with their office staff. They sent the nurse practitioner in to discuss my “cancer” concerns directly. I suspected I had cancer i.e. explosive mole growth, deep-tissue itching (I scratched blood blisters into my breast) and of course the bloody discharge. My internist informed me and it was later confirmed by a POSTER in my surgeon’s office that bloody discharge is grounds for further testing concerning breast cancer. Though I cannot get back the things I have lost; I am thankful to have another year with my daughter. I occasionally look up Drs Garza and Traver to warn the public to stand your ground with your physician and try to find a different OB if you can. Everyone makes mistakes, but this was a little more than a rating can cover.

Love Garza she does take the time to know what's going on and gives her opinion and takes great care of u. I have never felt any kind of negativity from her in any form. I've seen her since 2007 and she had delivered all 3 of my kids. Some of the front office staff seem a lite rude but this dr is great!

I went to her office for my last pregnancy with my now 14 month old. She is great doctor who is very straightforward, but kind and supportive at the same time. I like that she is so upfront about everything, but does it with a gentle touch. I also love seeing Elizabeth who is one of he nurse practitioners at the office. She is super sweet and I always look forward to appointments with her. I look forward to going to this office again for this surprise blessing we have on the way now!
