Her work left me with an indentation and scar so deep and horrible I will never stop being self conscience. It was a simple non-emergency appendectomy which never should have looked like this. She could care less.

Worst scars a guy could have. I will be embarrassed the rest of my life. Her bedside manor was horrible, which would be okay if she was a good surgeon. I could continue but years later I am still upset every time I take my shirt off. She could care less!

Dr. Way is a decent doctor but her assistant is not a nice lady. To start off with, she overbooks appointments so when you arrive, there are already at least 3-4 other patients sitting on the couch, leaving you to stand in the waiting room. I remember at the conclusion of one of my visits, Dr. Way told met to go to the front desk to make a follow up appointment. I do that but the assistant just stairs at her computer and says "so....", not knowing what to say or do. On one occasion she want so far as to make a patient cancel his appointment because he smelled like cigarettes and in her words "Dr. Way doesn't like it." These are just some examples, and there are plenty more

I had been a patient of Dr. Way for over a year dealing with a chronic wound and perirectal abscess. In the beginning, I felt that she was knowledgeable, detailed, and genuine. During this year of her overseeing my health issues, my wound persisted to heal up and then form a new abscess. Dr. Way didn't look into reasons of why it kept coming back, she just reassured me that "Sometimes these things just keep coming back until enough scar tissue forms in the area and it stops." Since the wound wasn't healing, again, she suggested that I go under the knife for another excisional biopsy of the wound. Over a year and 5 surgeries later, I decided enough was enough and sought out a specialist. The colorectal surgeon diagnosed me with a Fistula in his office, without the use of anesthesia, and assured me that it was the reason why this abscess kept on coming back. I made arrangements with Hoag hospital to retrieve the surgical notes from the previous 5 surgeries performed by Dr. Way. In… her notes, Dr. Way clearly stated that she checked the rectal walls for a fistulous tract while I was under anesthesia and wasn't able to find anything. This was interesting to me, considering my other doctor was able to diagnose a fistula while I was conscious on his table with only the use of his finger . At this point, the surgery scheduled with doctor Way was only 4 days after my appointment with the colorectal specialist - and after reading the surgical notes my confidence in Dr Way was shaken. So I called Dr. Way and explained to her that I saw a specialit and he diagnosed me with a fistula. Her demeanor completely changed as soon as I mentioned that I saw another doctor, and from there she told me that she could perform the fistulotomy. I started asking her logical questions; "How many of these surgeries have you performed? Are you confident doing this surgery? What are the possible scenarios if something goes wrong?" Questions that clearly had shown I had lost trust in her abilities. She then proceeded to tell me that I should "...just go see the specialist you saw and have him perform the surgery. Take care." and then hung up on me. Treating me like I didn't matter anymore, all with only 4 days until I was supposed to have her perform surgery on me. I find her behavior rude and extremely unprofessional. It wasn't until this incident that I realized that she not only is an incompetent doctor, but she was ice cold to the core. This is a doctor that I not only trusted my life to, but one that saw me have several emotional breakdowns in her office because of the frustration of this abscess coming back over and over again. If Dr. Way had used all the tools at her disposal in the OR to find this fistulous tract, and performed the correct fistulotomy a year earlier, it would have prevented me from 4 unnecessary surgeries, saved me a lot of time, and emotional stress. I just wanted to share my story, in hopes that it may prevent someone else from having to deal with her negligent medical practices.

I saw Dr. Way last year when she took care of my bad gallbladder. She is very professional and caring and my scars are barely noticeable. I saw her once after surgery and her office staff was professional and got me in and out of the office quickly. I refer everyone that needs surgery to Dr. Way
