Dr. Naomi Nomizu, MD

Our family’s experience with Dr. Nomizu was deeply troubling. She ended care for two terminally ill brothers living in the same household, both requiring 24/7 assistance, without notice, continuity-of-care arrangements, or even the courtesy of a telephone explanation. Necessary prescriptions and orders for therapy and safety equipment remained expired or unresolved, interrupting essential therapies and leaving them vulnerable to falls. We observed lasting neurological and functional decline that we believe was worsened by these gaps in care. In all my years dealing with medical professionals, I have never encountered conduct I considered more unethical or lacking in compassion, communication, and professional responsibility.

Based on our family’s direct experience, I would not recommend this physician for a patient with complex or home-based care needs. Communication often felt adversarial rather than collaborative. Home-care options were dismissed or handled inconsistently, and some interactions felt intrusive and insufficiently focused on the patient’s stated needs. We encountered repeated problems with orders and referrals that required clarification and correction. Information about care arrangements did not always match what outside agencies later told us. Most concerning, the care relationship ended without what we considered an adequate handoff or continuity plan, leaving the family to arrange replacement care during a vulnerable period. Families should document instructions and independently verify orders and referrals.
